Gangs Of .....

Recommended Posts

Program on channel five last night about Glasgow knife culture. Was pretty sad and couldn't watch the entire show.

Killing people through boredom or over territory like a blaze football pitch or cemetery?

Really, are we in medieval times?

KIRKTON YOUNG TEAM YA BAS. FT YOKER TOI

Kirkton was the set of flats I was brought up in. Fortunately I didn't associate myself with these people but I recognise all their faces. We actually had a decent gang back in the day IIRC but the current crop (well, those in the video) were shite.

I love some of the pictures in that. Whoever thought they looked pwoppa nawty posing in front of their maw's flowery curtains in tracksuits?

In Clackmannanshire you had:

YBR - Young Bowrie Rules (Alloa)

SYT - Sauchie Young Team (Sauchie)

CYT - Clackmannan young team AKA Clax Fleeto

YGR - Young gizz rulez (Tullibody)

AYT - Alva Young Team

YTB - Young Tilly Beezers (Tillicoultry)

Generally the YBR hated everycunt, The SYT and CYT got along and for a while the CYT and SYT used to fight like f**k with the YGR :lol:

Special mention to the short lived:
SYL - Sauchie Young Lads

BSC - Bottom Shop Crew (Tullibody)

There was another Tullibody and Alloa one but I cant remember their names.:lol:

When I first moved to Dundee about 20 years ago the Satan's Slaves seemed to be a pretty big deal, but I haven't seen or heard of them for years.

Satans Slaves were a biker gang rather than an area gang mate

Y-BE young bottom enders (stevenston)

This to me is a poorly judged name for a gang. Sounds like the kind of thing that would Jimmy Saville would have been into.

Anyhoo in Ayr and surrounds when I were a lad we had

Zulu Boiz fae Zulu aka Kincaidston

Lochy Fleet fae Lochside. The Lochy fleet were so hardcore their wee motto was the L and the F combined in such a way that it resembled a swastika

Forehill Orlit Boys

Dalmilling had one but I can't remember their name Dally Boys rings a bell.

The IBC - Irn Bru Crew from Prestwick.

The DHSS - Dundonald Hooligan Saturday Service

The Doonfoot Death Squad. These guys made Earls Way a no go area at night (although I may just have made that one up)

Seen stories of the Derry v the Termy from before my time, which was essentially North Ayr and South Ayr meeting up for a rammy every now and again.

I once cycled past a standoff between the 'Valley Boys' (of High Valleyfield) and the aptly named YOBs (Young Oakley Boys), the finest West Fife had to offer I believe (citizens of Abbeyview may disagree). I didn't hang around long enough to see what happened but would like to think that the Dunfermline Press had a 6 page pull out special covering the event.

Eta: Both made of of delinquents from two separate mining villages which haven't had a mine in ages. File's equivalent of East Ayrshire basically.

Our manager is a Valley Boy. You better surrender that playoff spot to us or there will be trouble :death
