Arbroath vs QP

Recommended Posts

Second spot clinched but not sure if that means much. These two teams are fairly evenly matched, at least in terms of goal scoring. We started very lively and it looked just a matter of time before the first goal came our way but the cynical tackle on Rooney changed the game. It was worthy of a straight red and we never even got a foul never mind a booking. You'd think that when the injured player was on the deck for five minutes and then got carried off that maybe the ref would have a think about whether he got it wrong and sort the offender out. You would think.

Absolutely hammered Arbroath (penned in, not sitting back) in the second but as so often this season our lack of attempts on goal tells the story. Still, the one shot was a cracker and got us a well deserved point. Credit to Guus too for flinging in 3 strikers, assuming that's what Moore is supposed to be.

Central defence rock solid again, an uncharacteristic mistake by Berry being the only weakness in the whole game. Midfield struggled without Rooney, Woods having possibly his least impressive display of the season. McElroy looked lively and willing and Carter really hounded the Arbroath defenders. With Rooney back fit and ready for revenge I think we have enough to take Arbroath over two games but if they have a slim advantage from the first leg I can see it being a sit-in for The Lichties at Hampden.

Great achievement for the season, so far.

oh go and dry your eyes, firm challenge in a game played by men, ref did not even give a foul, if you want a non-contact sport, go watch netball

I thought it was more 5 at the back we were playing today?with Whatley and Johnstone wing backs. McWalter had another good game, his tackle leading to the goal, but linn should've been taken off as he was breathing out his arse after 70 mins. Encouraging performance, can we go and beat the champions next week?mon the lichties

Wondered who would walk into that one. Rooney was skinning your guys. Old fashioned clugger takes out young starlet on the touchline. I was watching your guy running at him and his only intent was to cripple him. Refs are supposed to help protect skill players against that and he failed miserably to do his job. It wasn't a tackle, more of an assault. Same guy got away with 3 elbow incidents and a high-feet incident before half-time. Master tactical stroke to give the thug the captain's armband.

You let your club down with your 'big hard-man's game' pish. It's that seventies mindset that leads to most Scottish teams being out of Europe before the schools go back.

I don't think Arbroath need a lecture on players getting injured, we have had a good few of players crocked by oppositon players this season but hey guess what,no moaning or crying by us about it it happens, and QP players are no shrinking violets themselves so less of the holier than thou' attitude

oh get over yourself, stop being so bloody precious, just because your player was injured, does not mean it was a foul, so when does your one man campaign begin, to make football a non-contact sport begin?

Probably.

Your players will be clapping us onto the pitch first though, and you'll have the delights of the trophy presentation to endure in a 'here's what you should have won' stylee

There's absolutely no chance our fans will be there to see the presentation.

heard Bobby Linn asking the linesman if it was not a penalty why did Murray go down, linesman just kept saying no foul, no foul, Bobby just shook his head and walked away in disgust

Must be great being a centre half in this league get away with anything. I never realised they had changed the rules that the pitch could foul an opponent because at least 2 people tripped over on it and got fouls. How the linesman couldn't see that was a pen I will never know.

Thought we setup up well yesterday looking to contain qp and hit them on the counter and we very nearly snuck a win. Thought it was a stonewall pen on murray but really cant argue with a point in the end. Everyone put in a shift with nicoll, mcwalter and murray the pick. Seen qp no6 a few times now and he looks very solid despite being lucky not to give away a pen.

Stevie Wonder could see what the guy was trying to do. He succeeded and got away with it. That's football. Hope his next shite's a hedgehog.

Have to laugh at your comment about the game being played by men. You had three guys go down "injured" and wait for the saft ref to stop the game for them. After treatment, they were skipping about like Bambi. Funny, then, when we scored in injury time due to their time wasting tactics. Justice indeed for the mighty Queen's Park!

It was a great goal psychologically for us.

Onwards and upwards.

Same guy who saw Rooney get chopped right in front of him and carried off up the tunnel and didn't signal for a foul. Maybe he thought he'd even things up. For what it's worth, I wouldn't have complained if a penalty had been given.
