FAO Queen's Park and Albion Rovers supporters

Alright lads, I hope you're all well on this damn fine evening.

I recorded a podcast with former QPFC and Crazy Gang hero Steven Canning that I'm sure you'll find interesting - CLICK.

Of all the podcasts I've recorded so far, this has been the best one by a million miles. Absolutely loved putting it together. Canning starts by talking about his development in the QP youth team and how he made his debut under Cowboy McCormack, before going on to look at what made Billy Stark's team of 2006-07 so successful. He looks back at the League Cup win over Aberdeen and his goals in the play-off final against East Fife.

He talks about his transfer to Brechin City (43:46) and working with Jim Duffy and his time up at Glebe Park. Canning then discusses playing for Albion Rovers and Paul Martin (51:11). He gives a brilliant account of life inside the Crazy Gang and working for the charismatic Martin.

It's a lengthy podcast (90 minutes) but it's packed with detail and is absolutely hilarious in parts.

I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you Cesc, this is the best Pelé Podcast yet. You could listen to that and enjoy it even if you had never heard of Stevie Canning; probably even if you weren’t interested in football. A wonderful interview.

Great stuff. Stevie is a true QP legend in my eyes. Could play anywhere on the opark and often did. His second goal against East Fife in the play off final first leg was a thing of absolute beauty, one of many ridiculous goals he scored for us

His old man is also a top guy. If he hadn't had that barney with Brannigan at Elgin then we would never have had Billy Stark

Enjoyed that. Have always felt that Canning was an underrated player for us in comparison with his teammates at the time. He was at the heart of some of the great games under Stark and scored some superb goals. As Convener said, the goal at Firhill against East Fife was sublime. He also scored an absolute pearler of a chip down at Somerset Park early on the next season in a superb win down there. Fantastic times.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.

Great wee guy with his contribution to that excellent QP team probably a bit underestimated. His old man was always good for producing sundry bottles of "juice" for the boys on away trips.
