Predict the new media narrative

Recommended Posts

Let's just pretend the election goes the way it's looking like going. Labour propped up by the SNP with negotiations about every bit of legislation across the house.

They won't be able to use the "Vote SNP, get Tory" crap any more. So they'll need to come up with a new one.

If things go down the pan again, I'd imagine that the SNP will get the full blame from the media. They've already started up this narrative, with Milliband saying he won't enter into any kind of talks with the SNP. This assumes that the SNP are deviously trying to screw their own country's economy in order to create utter chaos in the hopes Scots would be stupid enough to not notice what they were doing. It also assumes that SNP politicians are infinitely better politicians who could trick Labour drones at will. Well, the second one might just be a rare bit of self-awareness.

If things go well for the economy in this scenario it will be painted as completely down to Labour, and especially Milliband, masterfully manoeuvring the SNP idiots. Moreover, in England they will play on the idea that the Labour party was able to achieve this success because they were free of the Scotialist (patent pending) wing of their party.

Any other ideas on how things are going to play out?

The centre-left are much better at tactical voting. My hunch is that Labour will take more seats off the Tories than the pundits predict. The Lib Dems should hold on a few more seats too. It's unlikely that they will have enough seats to form a coalition with an overall majority so they will have to do deals with the nationalist parties.

ETA - narrative.

Cameron blew it big time and will be kicked out by Tory MPs. Weak Miliband will held to ransom by Lib Dems and will have to offer nationalists a deal. UKIP implodes and Farage resigns.

Regardless of the result. The best thing for Scotland and for Scottish labour is that Scottish labour take an absolute kicking in this election

It will force them to seperate from uk labour and perhaps back an independence stance.

It will be bad for scotland if these labour drones get voted in again imo

There is a possibility that has not been discussed much. The media could campaign for a Tory-Labour coalition (possibly with the Lib Dems too but other two don't trust them) to stuff the SNP.

Suspect the right wing media are ready and waiting with those headlines to be honest.

I really can't see that happening though tbh.

There's no way a Grand Coalition will happen. Both parties would lose far too much support from their core voters. Look what's happened in Scotland. There's no way either party would risk it happening UK-wide.

Labour refuse to speak to the SNP. Ed Miliband hands the keys straight back over to David Cameron.

It's spread over every tabloid and British news network that the SNP are 100% to blame for this disaster.

If Ed does that even I'd be deserting. Think it's a crock though.

The SUN in Scotland won't though Rupert loves the Scots now plenty cringeworthy praise there.
