Mr. Bojangles
Seeing the Tories get in with a majority is absolutely terrifying. Personally, I'd rank that as a material change. Nicola won't, though.
bob the tank
As I posted on another thread. A good SNP victory in the holyrood election, Scotland voting to stay in the EU while England want out and there is the mandate for another go at independence, either a referendum on it or more drastically UDI. MassiveFanDan
Independence is very far from being the only option available to Scotland. It is the best one, though, and always has been.

Pretty much agree with this. It's ironic that Cameron campaigned to save the union and then went and promised an EU referendum that could well split the union permanently in order to counter a UKIP threat that's proved to be almost non existent. Oops.

renton
No its not, the election had nothing to do with independence. Sturgeon continuously stated this to ensure no voters voted snp The election had nothing to do with Indy, the aftermath does. Look at the electoral map now - proof that even when Scotland clearly articulates it's choice, it's at the mercy of English voting behaviour. The new UK government has f**k all mandate in Scotland and yet will impose it's policies on us.

forever_blue
Last night was nothing to do with independence , last night was a combination of determined yessers voting snp , some no voters voting snp to send a message to labour that they are not happy with what is going on and the unionist vote being split amongs the rest of the parties. With Tories in full power , a scottish referendum is not going to happen , particularly with an eu referendum on the card.

ScotGov can call a consultative referendum if it wants, not legally binding but try and see UK Gov ignore the result.

Nothings changed independence wise. The scottish electorate is far more sophisticated than you think
forever_blue
Aye, ok Well what of that do you disagree with? Don't get me wrong , yous have an opportunity here to lay the the foundation for a successfull referendum in ten -15 years time should all go to plan and yous make no major f**k ups whilst in Westminster ,but you have to play a waiting game if you want to meet your goal, another quick referendum and the result will pan out similar to last years one and then you are fucked because people are going to get fed up of holding a referendum every two year untill the nats win .
