Teams you wouldn't miss if they merged

Recommended Posts

Potential car crash thread here (depends on the participants I guess) but we will give it a try.

As the name suggests, if you had a vote on which teams you would like to merge (for the good of Scottish football) who would it be?

Why would it be them and would they survive as a merged club?

Obviously many will be geographic rivals but lets see what folks come up with.

Fill yer boots!

Montrose, Arboath, Forfar and Brechin.

Will save the four of them having to fight for the support of 500 weird locals.

Our average support the last couple of years will have been better than yours

Eta:

2014/2015 - 721

2013/2014 - 1054 (obviously thanks to Rangers)

2012/2013 - 684

2011/2012 - 803

People moaning about there being 4 Angus clubs are absolute morons. :P

Angus is a pretty big county.

There are much more clubs in the central belt that are in a close proximity to each other...

It's hard to imagine the circumstances under which any club should merge with another, barring the long-term inability to break even. Even then, it ought to be down to the remaining fans whether to merge or just let the old club die.

Still, Dundee, eh? Right 'cross the road from each other. An amalgamated Dundee team would have loadsamoney from selling one of the grounds, and would have the combined support of both clubs. European Champions within ten years IMO.

Been a while since the papers have trotted out that keich; surely worth a punt on a slow news day.

Clyde and Cumbernauld Colts, if it gets some of the more tedious Bully Wee posters on here to disappear.

I don't think any clubs in Scotland, junior, league or amateur would want to be in any shape or form associated with Clyde f.c and their brainless supporters.

Trying to think about clubs I just don't care about at all like East Fife, Montrose, Clyde, Elgin, Berwick and they're all too far away from anyone else to real make any mergers possible. Apart from Clyde. Who aren't really based anywhere so they can merge with any of the other four teams I mentioned.
