An outstanding team effort by the SPFL board. I wonder how that was achieved. Perhaps by reaching back into hazy memory and realising that a man called Ralph Topping has had business ties to the SPL/SPFL and Ladbrokes for years. How did they miss this?

I wonder, could this largesse from a bookie be anything to do with the possible return of the wifebeater derby?

Only took them 3 years.....

By curious coincidence the same time that a team with a certain name has been absent. Then the league seals a sponsorship deal with a business connected to a man who has been at the upper echelons of Scottish football all that time.

Hmm ...

SPFL don't have a sponsor - "Bloody disgrace, can't even get a sponsor"

Rumours that the SPFL have a sponsor - "Fruity Kings?! Bloody disgrace."

SPFL get a sponsor - "Bloody disgrace, a bookies?! Players cannae even bet... Took ye long enough though!!!!"

SPFL change mind and give sponsorship to Unicef - "Bloody disgrace, what about children in THIS country?! And how is that going to pay the bills?!"

Conclusion - Scottish football fans are impossible to please.

FWIW I think the sponsorship is fine. A well known company that are willing to invest a substantial amount in Scottish football. The equating this to the betting ban is ludicrous as well. We surely all know the reasons behind the blanket ban, and any player that confuses Ladbroke's sponsorship with being some kind of endorsement to bet is playing games.

I thought Topping was William Hills?

He is, and I am a daft arse. :)

ETA: That'll teach me to post while sober.

It's obviously good that we have a sponsor at last - and I honestly couldn't care less who the company is (I've had to live with Cash Converters being our sponsors although I hate the industry that they are in). The key point here is the amount and the the method for distribution over the 4 divisions. My feeling is that the way that administrators and the press have effectively talked the game down over the years and the fact that there isn't exactly a bidding war will mean that the amount, just like the TV deal, will undervalue the game and won't make a significant difference to finance..

The work to make the next deal a more competitive affair should start now - and Doncaster shouldn't be anywhere near it..

I disagree I think there 5 team Acca insurance bet is quite good. One team has let me down many times do you can use the free bet to try again

Pretty sure there's a clause where you can't cash out winnings from a free bet, you must bet it again a certain amount of times.

I don't think most people are objecting to anything other than the first point, which to be fair is a bloody disgrace. At least it's sorted now, but it only serves to highlight once more how completely and utterly incompetent Mr Doncaster has been.
