The devolution vote in 1970s

The vote was returned as a yes, somewhere in the region of 52% in favour, but as Mr Bairn said the devious b*****ds in the Labour party amended the bill which required that 40% of the total electorate had to vote in favour for the vote to be carried.

As I understand it the electoral register hadn't been updated for some time so there were a lot of people on it who had passed away and automatically voted no.

Democracy, UK style at it's very worst.

It should always serve as a reminder that the UK politicians can do what they like to deny us.
