lang
The advocates of summer football have gone very quiet. Have always said it wont work cos games still go off in august and may, then u have no time left 2 fit in the postponements
town1888
I don't get that? If you played through summer months surely postponements would be far less than winter? And how come we would run out of time to finish season? Season finishes when it finishes either way. There's arguments for both winter and summer I personally think summer is way forward and worth trying.
lang
Just now we use midweek games 2 clear any backlog but if season ends in november we couldnt fit in any games postponed after light nites finish
hardest ned in glasgow
summer fitbaw widnae work for the reason lang says. ye'll always get the scoundrels in the juniors whose pipes burst everytime they have an injury crisis, so u'll get a backlog into November. wishawloyal
Surely the SJFA could have a ruling to prevent this? Perhaps If you have your game called off on 3 occasions it switches to oppositions park (like scottish cup ruling). Another option is if the games off for too many attempts they can book an alternative venue. I personally would save the league cup competition until the end of the season and start the current season in late July. Before I'm shot down in flames, I realise there is lots of ifs and buts. However surely something has to be changed?
nst15
There would never be a backlog of games if we played summer football. For a start there would always be the option to schedule midweek games throughout the summer. You could play 2 games a week through June and July and in the other summer months if games were called off due to freak weather then a midweek fixture could be used to help catch up. The benefits far outweigh the negatives and it would also help have a season where all teams finish playing on the same weekend whereas with the current set up teams can finish weeks before others. I haven't even mentioned the benefits of better pitches better weather for watching!

Blantyre's SC tie with Newtongrange Star was called off 4 weeks running,no mention of it being moved that I knew of ,not that our pitch would have been much better

I take you point about Holidays but players are off on stags, holidays, weddings, dogs birthdays etc gone are the days when everyone took the Fair fortnight.
