Dundee United 2015/16 Season

Recommended Posts

I'll be happy enough to see him go this summer if anyone's daft enough to pay a decent fee. No denying that he's a wonderful talent but the baggage recently has just been ridiculous. He rather typifies all that is good and bad about United at present - young, talented, precocious, infuriating, ill disciplined, and feckless. I suspect you could replace him with a less talented but more focused player and still improve the team.

He's got to be sold now I would say (as long as we get more value for him than he would give the team, but then when you consider he might be suspended at the start of the season and ultimately will be suspended at various points throughout the season then that value isn't that high).

Worst case scenario would be selling him in January and not replacing him properly.

Indeed. If he stays as a squad player, competing with the other forwards (which implies he'll be dropped when he starts acting like a fanny), then fair enough but I just can't see him staying and not being the focal point of the team.

I see the tactic of defending the indefensible by Utd in the hope of some loyalty never worked.

Surprising...,

Dundee fans celebrate McGowan assaulting policemen.....Dundee fan talks about 'defending the indefensible'.

That's not ironic. No sir. Not even slightly....

FC Copenhagen are a Danish football team named after the capital of Denmark where they play their home matches. You may know them as FC København hence the confusion.

Ah, FC København, how silly of me. A very good fit for The Weasel.

It's that time of the year again, folks! Tele apparently saying we're considering Kris Boyd. Dundee also apparently interested, and I'd say a far more likely destination.

This Dundee fan has neither celebrated nor defended McGowan so I'll happily stand by my statement.

Alternatively we can lump the suppprts together and assert promote and endorse the sexual assault of women, that you sang racist songs about Jimmy gomis and that you feel it's acceptable to label a professional football manager and set of fans with a derogatory term for the disabled.

Back in your box you slavering c**t.

Cheers

Not surprised by the Ciftci news in the slightest.

The next issue is how much we will sell him for. He isn't worth as much as some United fans think he is so undoubtedly this will be another easy opportunity to bash Stephen Thompson after we do offload him for less than the predicted £17million from United Mad-esque fans.

Finding a replacement will be a challenge though, if we continue to play with a lone striker it is a tough ask and not that many strikers can play that position well (those within our budget anyway).

As an outsider (last Derby aside where he was pretty poor) I thought muirhead was looking pretty decent towards the end of the season?

I think he has potential but he isn't very skilful or very quick. He is direct, loves a shot and will probably mature in to a decent centre forward. He will be delighted about Ciftci leaving as it opens up a real opportunity for him.

A throwback to Jon daly maybe? Is muirhead any good in the air? He's pretty tall but quite slight ain't he?

He isn't the strongest physically, he definitely should be given his height. Jon Daly was a simple but effective footballer (at times) and in some ways Muirhead seems similar. The right kind of striker playing that role can make such a big difference, in particular if they have the ability to bring the wingers and attacking midfielder in to play (something that Ciftci can do brilliantly well when he decides he wants to play properly).
