Only in the first round. And only for the Regionalliga Clubs.
Waspy
Credit to Union for grinding out the result. Some performance in the first leg.
flyingscot
Not sure I agree with away goals in domestic games but fair fucks to Union Berlin. They deserved it overall.

Given the size of Germany, I think sometimes it's fair enough. Stuttgart, for example, is a 1,200km round trip from Berlin.
Allan Jacobsen
Pleasing, well played. Hopefully next season, Union Berlin send Paderborn down by one goal.

Never really liked away goals as a method and don't see it as relevant any more- it's unfair too if a tie goes to extra time in a 2nd leg.
AyrTroopMajor
Absolute stupidity by Nicolas Gonzalez to stand right in front of the goalkeeper in an offside position. That Stuttgart free kick was going in either way. Congrats to Union Berlin on promotion, looking forward to the Berlin derby next season - a 75,000 sell-out with about 15,000-20,000 Union fans. Mental.
German Jag
Wehen Wiesbaden win 3-2 in Ingolstadt to win the BL2 ~ 3. Liga play-off. Closer to home H96 appoint ex. trainer Mirko Slomka who together with former player Jan Schlaudraff, as Sportdirektor, are given the task of getting H96 promoted. Not sure what to make of it, bit of a nostalgia trip back to the heady days of 2011-2013 in the Europa League. Back then though, there were players like Didi Ya-Konan, Ron-Robert Zieler, Mame Djiouf et al in the team. Case of wait and see what players come in. As regards pre-season friendlies, apart from the usual (15-0) run-outs against local village teams, one against Tier 4 Lüneburger Hansa SK, as well as 3. Liga Hansa Rostock, in Rostock, have been announced. Draw for the 1st round of the DFB-Pokal is 15th June.
Waspy
I love how teams in Germany are in the top flight one minute and down 2 divisions within a matter of seasons.

On the other hand, couple of years back, Paderborn avoided relegation to Tier 3, due to 1860 Munich not getting a license for Tier 3 and having to go from BL2 straight down to Tier 4 Regionaliga Bayern.

Paderborn actually should have been relegated to the Regionaliga that season. Their last 6 seasons have been: 13/14 - promotion to Bundesliga 14/15 - relegation to Bundesliga 2 15/16 - relegation to 3.Liga 16/17 - finished 18th & should have been relegated to Regionaliga but saved by 1860 17/18 - promotion to Bundesliga 2 18/19 - promotion to Bundesliga It’s actually baffling how they’ve managed to achieve all this. Essentially 3 successive relegations surrounded by 3 promotions.

AyrTroopMajor
With them already having lost Lukebakio after his loan ended and now looking like they will lose Raman as well, I can see ten of ATM's pounds going on Fortuna being relegated next season.
Stellaboz
They've just had an incredible season, it was always going to be difficult matching that next year and that makes it all the more hard.
German Jag
Season ticket renewed. 20% reduction due to relegation. Also another 5% reduction due to being an existing ST holder. Works out at €143, which equates to ca. £7.50 a game. Realise that German clubs get a shit load of tv money, but is still cheap. Draw for the 1st round of the DFB-Pokal gets made tomorrow. BL1 & BL2 fixtures to be announced in 2 weeks time on the 28th.
