The Big Pie and Bovril League Set Up (FM 2016)

Every year I get bored of FM around about March and set about creating a new Scottish League set up (and occasionally other countries set ups as well). I'm gonna do it right from the off this year and thought we could get this sorted on here.

Now I got a few basic rules:

1- We're gonna have one single division at the top with no split. You can make a league with regional leagues and a play off but it's a hassle (as is the split)

2- It's gonna be a full season running frum July to May. There could be a winter break but it's not gonna be a summer league and it's not gonna be split like an Apetura and Clausura

3- There will be a Scottish Cup where every club gets chucked in at once

4- All regional splits will be done in groups of 2/4/8/16. Again you can do 3 leagues below a league with play offs to go up but it's a lot of fucking hassle I cannot be arsed with.

Beyond that we can go nuts.

I figured it'd be easier to do this via survey monkey but, sadly, that means any decisions we make on league set up mean we can only do it a bit at a time (hence me starting this quite early) so here's a few questions about the SPL and national cups

No new votes for a while so we'll go with what we got.

SPL, one league, 16 teams play twice
First Division, one league
Scottish Cup
A second national cup, featuring all teams, was a draw but I'm getting the deciding vote and nixing it.

We are getting a league cup tho' for the first four tiers, a second cup will be for the four tiers after that. Doubt we'll have more than 8 tiers but we'll revisit the second (and possibly) third cup when we get there.

League cup was a draw between group stage/two leg knock out and straight knock out. Third was group stage/straight knock out so we'll presume that the group stage was the most popular idea and take the league cup as a group stage/two leg knock out.

Second round of voting up now

All divisions to have 16 teams playing twice

Tiers one and two: One division

Third tier: two divisions

Fourth tier-7th tier: four divisions

Anything beyond the 7th tier has 8 divisions

Scottish Cup with all teams in straight knock ot with replays
League cup for top 4 tiers (128 teams) starting with 16 group stages of 8 with sixteen teams going into a two legged knock out system

Regional cups are straight knock out but a few will have replays

An international cup featuring league and cup winners from all home nations split into two groups of five with two going through

A championship play off to decide the league winners with the top four tiers

Three up/Three down from the top tier and no play offs for promotion or relegation

Two down automatically from the 2nd tier with 2 teams entering a relegation play off

Three teams promoted from the 3rd tier with no promotion play off

Gonna do prize money now as well. The idea I usually use with prize money is thus: 2nd place gets a % of whatever the prize for 1st is and then we keep that % throughout the league. So, for instance...

If 1st place gets £1,000,000 then we decide that there should be a 20% drop in prize money then 2nd place would get £800,000, 3rd would get £640,000 and so on and so forth.

That percentage drop will be constant throughout the leagues.

The prize money for the 2nd tier will also be a percentage of the 1st tier's prize money. Let's say the prize money is halved. Then tier 1 winnners get £1,000,000, tier 2 gets £500,000 and tier three £250,000 (and 2nd place would be £800,000; £400,000' £200;000 and so on)

Anyway. Nearly done(ish)

Sorry I never got to finish all the voting. Holdays/moving house/laptop expiring fucked that up. But all up and ready to go now. Will hopefully have this sorted by the weekend. If not then early/mid next week.

Will require folk who don't mind doing a bit of a beta testing (even just holidaying a season or so to check bugs)
