As I recall they had problems with a short-lived group of 'EC Ultras' - setting-off flares, smokebombs, firecrackers and so forth - and this was the pretty stern solution... They also smacked about the McDonalds on the other side of the road, and engaged in fighting with rival Gretna 2008 young team the 'Black & White Minstrels'. Burnt/stole/ripped-up their flag, IIRC.

Some of the kids had bought club colours, etc., and were following the team home-and-away bringing some atmosphere and colour. Unfortunately what was a nice thing was spoiled and latterly plenty were clearly just coming along to cause trouble.

Given their crowds it wouldn't have been economical to arrange extra stewards at games. There was even talk of the police deploying officers which would have cost big money.

I'm not sure if it is rigorously enforced. If they are promoted, I'd hope the policy itself may be revised - bigger crowds and much bigger income might let them employ more stewards (they had some yesterday) and the incidents were 3 years ago.

I remember sprinting along the indoor running track in the stand when I was about 10 at a Meadowbank-Berwick game. Hopefully I'm not partly to blame for this rule.

Searching the Edinburgh City website for admission prices on Saturday I noticed that unaccompanied under-18s are not allowed entry! Why on earth would they want to turn potential young fans away? It's a non-league football club, not a bloody pub.

By the way, I couldn't find the prices for the biggest game in the club's history. Anyone know what they are?

£5 and £2 from what's been said on here.

Depends if the SPFL are going to impose a min. price

In its infancy - before the flares, the abortive happy-slaps and BigMacGate - the 'Minstrels' v 'Ultras' rivalry was healthy.

Think Ali v Cooper... Gladstone v Disraeli... Zippy v George from Rainbow. Then sh*t got real.

'The Black & White Minstrels'

'The EC Ultras'

Another Charles for the Black & White Minstrels

I'm in Edinburgh on Saturday to pick up the mother-in-law at the airport - would love to take her along to the play-off final and see how it compares to an Arizona Diamondbacks game   :P

Highlights from 2nd leg:

https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/highland-league/the-big-game/906499/video-big-game-highlights-cove-rangers-fall-short-bid-overhaul-edinburgh-city/

Remarkable quotes from the Cove Rangers manager in the post-match interview there and in HFLHub. "It's not my brand of football... I would describe it as negative type football" and then "there were some mysterious decisions from the officials over the two legs it must be a different set of rules... I do find the style of football Edinburgh have got not to my liking, it's very negative".

To have lost 3-0 at home; then 4-1 on aggregate; had only the minority of possession; recorded perhaps a third of the shots on target of City, who also missed two one-on-ones and had a penalty shout denied; would seem an advert for more teams to shift to "negative football"?

Also felt their disallowed goal should have stood and it might have changed things (they were 4-0 down at this point with perhaps half-an-hour left) - it's obvious the City keeper goes up, catches it with 2 hands, then is shoulder-charged into the goal by a Cove player who doesn't play the ball at all (9:45 in highlights) !!

Surprised to read in the paper that Cove missed a big player last week as he went golfing in Turkey.

They also changed their 'keeper on Saturday - the first-choice was on his stag trip in Budapest.

Heard it was Prague along with a couple of his first choice team mates.
