St. Mirren vs Dumbarton

Recommended Posts

Thompson didn't even connect with ball, brown had 2 hands on it and was taken out. Gibson was booked early on for dissent at the linesman but that big fanny goes nuts and gets away with it.

Looks like two players going for the ball to me. Both collided, most refs would give a foul on the keeper for that. Don't think Thommo has eyes on the keeper though.

From a Saints perspective it looked like Dumbarton players were going for Agnew early on it the game..

There was one two-footed studs up challenge on him in the first 5 minutes. Sons player got the ball, but Goodwin would have been sent off for that challenge, ball first or not.

Haven't seen Agnew enough to know whether it affected him or not, but I don't think there's any doubt the Sons players were giving him some special attention.

The Agnew we know doesn't like tackling and is very lightweight, However if he gets time on the ball he will play well, not surprised if a tactic was to stop him getting time on the ball. I think he was tackling more than what we are used to seeing, it was him that conceded the free kick for gibsons goal.

Aye, even without my DFC tinted specs and GK Union membership card, that's as clear a foul on Brown as you'll see. You can barely touch a 'keeper never mind knock him over nowadays.

By the way, who decided black numbers on that Saints strip was a good idea? Get the red numbers dug out, nightmare trying to read them!

Aye its a gutter. We have had red numbers for the last few seasons, not only looks classier its easier to read. Surprised the refs haven't kicked up a fuss about it yet, I know the BBC sportsound commentators were.

The black numbers make it almost impossible to make out from distance - still, it's better than a blank box with the number in it. Someone mentioned that it's league rules which prevent us from having red numbers, but I'd be surprised if the rules are different between the Championship and the Premiership TBH.

Perhaps they don't have red letters? Only reason I can think of for it not being allowed in this league.

I suspect it is because they changed the font this year and only produced letters in black and white, neither of which suit. Why they can't offer red I don't know!

That's what I thought too. Wouldn't surprise me if it's a cost thing too though.

When we got that panel for the names and numbers the clubs claimed it was a rule. Then when other clubs started having numbers in different colours it emerged there was a cost implication - while everyone will be after black and white numbers, not everyone will be after red/silver/whatever so clubs had to bear the brunt.

We have red names and numbers on the back of one of our strips, so its definitely allowed in the championship..

I'm gutted to have missed the game and even more so the result!

Whatever the performance, that's an absolutely fantastic result.

Glad to hear about our gutsy and spirited performance, that can only bode well for upcoming games and the rest of the season.

Hopefully I'll make the second game in Paisley and we can repeat the feat.

Being top of the league, even after just two games is superb!
