Bulls on parade

7 people have been gored to death by bulls this summer in Spanish bull runs through the streets.

Whats the thoughts of P&B on this? It's a given, I'd guess that bull-fighting in a ring is barbaric but is this any less so?

I'm sure the bull isn't having a rip roaring time of it.

So is it a series of unfortunate events, or f**k em?

Bulls have gored seven people to death during festivals across Spain since the beginning of July - four of them over the past weekend.

The deaths occurred during bull-running in the streets, not in bullrings. It is an unusually high number of fatalities for such a short period.

Among them was a 36-year-old town councillor gored in Penafiel, a town near Valladolid, north of Madrid.

Further north an 18-year-old man gored in the stomach died in Lerin, Navarra.

The other deaths occurred during bull festivals in the regions of Valencia, Murcia, Toledo, Castellon and Alicante.

Last year more than 7,200 bulls and steers (castrated bull calves) were killed by bullfighters across Spain, the news website El Diario reports.

Nearly 2,000 bullfights - or "corridas" - are still held in the country every year, but the numbers are falling. In 2010, Catalonia became the second Spanish region after the Canary Islands to ban the tradition.

Opponents condemn bullfighting as barbaric, but it still has many fans in Spain, including Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

A Spanish law passed in 2013 defends bullfighting as part of the nation's cultural heritage, saying it is the state's duty to "preserve it and promote it", El Pais website reports.

According to Spanish economics lecturer Juan Medina at the University of Extremadura, bullfighting generated €282.4m (£200m; $313m) in 2013, of which €59m was income from sales tax (VAT).

Watching, taking part in or enjoying bullfighting/running is for utter c***s. It's only fair that the bull gets to go free if it kills someone.

I like this idea. If the bull coud win its freedom by competing in a deathmatch against a matador then I'd be all for bullfighting.

Two mammals enter, one mammal leaves!

Clearly not losing a cure for cancer so f**k them.

Hopefully one year during the run, all the runners get trampled and gored. Fucking pointless c***s.

Gives me the proper horn so it does.

Seriously tho, I know a couple of people who have done the Pamplona bull run because it was on their "bucket list" - I just ask if they also have Taiji on their list. The more gored the better IMO. Hopefully it becomes such a common occurrence that it's stopped.

They could set it up like The Running Man, but replace Plain Sub Zero, Fireball, Buzzsaw, Dynamo and Captain Freedom with furious bulls who have been taunted and teased for days on end (or made to read certain topics on here).

Dynamo gave me 'mares as a younger lad.

Not the street magician from the less desirable suburbs of Bradford, the big fat lethal christmas tree in the afforementioned film.

Folk complain about this but not an eyelid is batted at the abuse Guide dogs suffer.

I agree, its absolutely disgusting.

A guide dog stands no chance in one on one combat with a gorilla in the first place so it should never have been sanctioned.
