Audaces Fortuna Juvat
.....................against the utterly insane Westboro Baptist Church's weekend protest against homosexuality. https://uk.screen.yahoo.com/editor-picks/foo-fighters-rick-roll-westboro-122500180.html I'm more of a mind to ignore people that stupid, but well done Foos. ICTChris
Does the bassist from the Foo Fighters not think you can cure AIDS with garlic?

WeAreElgin
Anyone else finding Foo Fighters a bit tedious at the moment? They're an average band these days, not sure how they've come to be so popular despite the music getting worse.

Gaz
I still quite like them, but they have became very Dad Rock. They're like a modern day Eagles (but not shit).
Paris Hilltoon
A lot of hate for the foos on this thread, everyone's entitled to their opinion but seriously the eagles are shit? Get a grip man, the eagles are an amazing band it's exactly why they were the biggest selling band of the 20th century. The eagles aren't the biggest selling band of the 20th century. They have the biggest selling album. Carry on.
Jarkko Wiss
The Eagles are tame, much like The Foo Fighters of the last 10 years. It's a good comparison.
Jarkko Wiss
Yeh ok you're right there, still the 8th biggest selling band in history. So what? Westlife have sold more singles than The Beatles.
milton75
Yeh ok you're right there, still the 8th biggest selling band in history. The Sun sells more papers than The Guardian, JK Rowling sells more books than James Joyce, etc. I'm sure you had a point, but I don't know what it was... Gaz
The "biggest selling album" thing is also a load of horseshit, given that it's not even a fucking album. It's a Greatest Hits. It's a compilation. EDIT: And it was only in the US. Thriller sold more copies worldwide.
milton75
My point is they are not shite. They are a fantastic band, just because people don't like their music does not make them shite, I don't like radiohead or arctic monkeys etc doesn't mean they're shite. They are exceptional musicians, singers and songwriters, anything but shite. Fair do's. I agree. They're not shite, I just don't like them much. Just don't ever equate high sales to not being shite in any media, as most people are imbeciles.
tamthebam
I thought this was going to be a thread about them forcing the egg chasers out of Murrayfield because of their rearranged concert. Dave Grohl, I salute you sir!
Audaces Fortuna Juvat
They're like an American Coldplay. Whoooa sir, nobody is as shite as Coldplay, so consciously uncouple yourself from that comment.
diegomarahenry
Musicians cant remain angry young men forever and most hard rock acts mellow out once they make some cash, move in to big houses and have kids unless they are at the ridiculous end of the spectrum like AC/DC or Iron Maiden. Foo Fighters went mainstream about 10 years ago and to quote a Nirvana song, make radio friendly unit shifters, I quite like them but not as much as I did previously. The WBC are a pantomime act and attention whores and were probably thrilled that the band did this again.
Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Your last sentence is very true, that's why I would chose to ignore them. That would really piss them off.
YassinMoutaouakil
Foo fighters are great and have moved on with the times. Like all bands it's easy to get nostalgic and prefer their earlier work and criticise the path they are on now. I haven't listened to any of their newest stuff but their album 4 years ago was good and they were one of the best headliners I have seen at titp. The comparisons to Coldplay are ridiculous. Coldplay>>>>> Foo Fighters.
Derek Patterson
They're like an American Coldplay. Bar a handful of genuinely great tunes, Grohl has spent most of his career watering down all that was brilliant about the likes of Husker Du and churning out the type of vanilla, radio rock that in turn allowed the likes of Nickelback to have a career.
