speckyboy
After looking at the highlights it does look like Lumsden set up a defensive team the same as he always does against teams from higher up the table, the only problem with this is we have one of the worst back lines in the league. The highlights show 2 shots on target one from Reid which was saved and one from Stewart that went in,looking at the time line along the bottom of the screen at 1.42 the ball should have been headed out not down to Austins feet. 3.14 nobody follows the EF runner (No20) 3.55 defender in front of Austin, ball goes over his head ,Goal 4.17. camera behind goal shows up bad defending 5.00 defense caught sleeping 5.16 EF player back post unmarked 5.25 3 EF players unmarked 5.37 Austin unmarked again 5.41 Austin should have been ushered away from the box 5.44 EF player left on his own with 5 Of our players in the area, terrible defending 6.04 camera behind goal shows the amount of space left 6.39 another free header 7.12 3 EF players in the box wnd no one near them 7.13 another free header 7.24 3 on to one and he still gets a pass in 7.25 Austin standing alone again So instead of trying to find fault with the midfield and strikers take a long hard look and the reason we get beat,ok you have to score goals to win but if you let them in you lose
Lichtielegend
That's a lot of effort to state what was obvious to most of us.

Constantly under pressure.

JoseMarooniho
Michael, Michael Owen, is that you? Also you can let in goals and win. Sheerin's Arbroath team did it all the time and it was great.

fatdoug1938
In fairness there's only 4 with a worse defensive record!!

The main problem on Saturday, and many other games in my opinion, is that we either invite pressure onto ourselves or don't break up the play/ do basic tracking of runners from midfield and leave the defence exposed. There are far too many occasions this season where a nasty b*****d would've picked up a yellow in the middle of the park or a wide man would've blocked/ tracked the run of a wide man/ overlap and the defence is left in a 2 v 1 situation through no fault of their own. We didn't put any pressure on East Fife in their own half at all on Saturday, there was no urgency whatsoever, and personally I find that unacceptable. Have to agree with most of the above,Lumsden is playing safe to keep his job, playing to stay up and not to go up
