With regards to Stoke, Labour should hold on as it seems Nuttall has been a massive liability. Copeland looks like it might be close. Tories are apparently pretty confident, and LD sources also suggest that the Tories will take it. Might depend on Labour turnout on the day. From pretty much the day after Reed resigned, the Tories have been hitting it constantly with leaflets showing how Corbyn is anti-nuclear. The big question is, would allowing the governing party to gain a by-election seat for the first time since the Falklands War in 1982 be enough to see Corbyn go? Copeland is Tories easily, every poll and bookie is saying they've got it in the bag. As for Stoke, Mahmood is a bigger factor on the ground than Nuttall - it is neck & neck.

Mark Hawthorne - the Conservative leader of Gloucestershire County Council - & Di Martin, the leader of the Labour group on Forest of Dean District Council, both seemed to regard this as good politics. Under such circumstances, no wonder the locals delivered a big GYTF to the Con/Lab/Kippers, & had no time for the LibDems opportunistically crawling out of the woodwork for a seat they never bothered with last time out. Well done to the Greens, especially their local chair (& now councillor) Sid Phelps, the only one it appears who fought the campaign on local issues & duly won.
Sooky
Theresa May made an unprompted visit to Stoke today. Suggestion that they feel the UKIP vote there is collapsing?

Can't find any recent polls but 10/1 sounds a bit tempting. Double it up with Copeland and you'd get 14/1, but not sure if the bookies would allow that.

I guess the logic might be that they only finished 33 votes behind UKIP in 2015 and if UKIP were capable of winning it, why can't they? They might be sensing they could beat them into second place, which would still be a strong showing.

Will you be attacking Jimmy Savile's victims next? On the Trump thread you said that it was laudable that some people wanted Trump to be assassinated. Frankly, you are a just nasty fascist scumbag like your idol Tony Blair. Edited February 21, 2017 by Bishop Briggs

You're picking a truly vile character to white knight. I'm not white knighting anyone. It was not legal for Milo, under-age at the time, to be abused by the priest. Do you honestly believe that Milo's abuse (or "experience" as the abuser's apologists might put it) had no effect on his character or views? Even vile characters have equal rights, including the right not to preyed upon.
williemillersmoustache
Indeed tour Grace, it makes him exponentially more likely to be an abuser now he's an adult and thinks priests teaching kiddies to suck dick is fine, doesn't it?
