Brechin City vs Dunfermline Athletic

Recommended Posts

He doesn't seem to be able to win a high ball 50/50 without holding on to the opposing players shirt or using them as a pogo stick, which for a guy of his height is very strange.

He needs to learn subtlety with the way he manhandles forwards. Let's face it, every centre half and "target man" striker persistantly fouls their opposite number, the difference is subtlety in being able to get away it. BRE is routinely far too obvious, and gets outfoxed by a forward backing in almost every time. The pogo stick fouling is just silly.

Another inept performance, playing people out of position doesn't work,Fusco is a holding midfielder and McLean is better at right back.Hope when we are in the bottom division next season we have a better manager in place or we could be relegated to the highland league if Dods is still in charge.

Another inept post by a 'diehard'

Oh dear....

Might be many things but he's no a diver.

Cardle on the other hand...

He went down VERY easily for the free kick in the lead up to the second goal ........Took about 6 oscar winning tumbles after Tiffoney's challenge to earn Tiff his yellow. Was on his arse more times than a novice ice skater !!! He certainly knows how to con refs , make no mistake.

In the ref's defence though, Pars do break at speed and the slightest contact on the speedy lads like Cardle and co tend to look more dramatic than they actually are.

Also a couple of the bookings were for protesting out of frustration at the soft decisions

So you would have McLean at right back and who in at centre half ? Dods ??????

McLean tightened up a very vulnerable centre of defence yesterday in his self confessed favoured position of centre half .

Yes Fusco is a renowned defensive midfielder but has relished and enjoyed his spell as stand in right back . I think he is settling into that position now . There have been a lot worse who have played in that position this season.

Brechin were far from inept as many Pars fans pointed out while chatting after the game. Sure the gulf in class was evident as it should be when a full time team plays a part time one, but on the whole our players stuck to their task and actually had quite a few good chances themselves.

My only concern is the lack of quality on the bench at the moment. Shepherd is too timid especially in a game like yesterday where losing the ball weakly in attack to a team as quick on the break as Dunfermline can be costly. Euan Smith and Weatherston added very little either.

Edit ......In the very unlikely chance that we go out of the league, we would probably opt for the Lowland league as it would be less travelling . If you are going to keep trolling then at least do a bit of research first ! ;)

I have to laugh all the time when you all think I'm a troll.I'm just expressing my opinions that is what this website is all about and I think we lack quality all over the park, compared to previous seasons.I'm sure you are also going to tell me you have inside knowledge that we would go for the lowland league.

Also people should stop moaning about the refs, they don't play the football.

Our chairman openly suggested that in an article in the Sunday Mail a few weeks ago.

Obviously we are going to struggle after losing a few of our best and more influential players but to suggest that we are inept after every game without giving any logical reason other than your hatred of Dods lends us to the opinion that you are either a troll or have been duped into believing that we are a club who have endless financial resources to keep punching above our weight . Yes it is a poor season but we will bounce back again without a doubt.

You are indeed entitled to your opinions, but as the majority of level minded fans have also slated your negativity I would suggest that things are maybe not as bleak as you predict !

I don't read the Sunday Mail but if our chairman openly suggested in an article shows lack of ambition which is disappointing.your optimism is commendable thinking we will bounce back.I'm maybe being negative that is because I can't see any positives on the field this season.

, We have had 14 very comfortable seasons in this league and have been very fortunate in our choice of managers throughout this time. Each manager has come in with a reasonable squad to work with and to add their own different style to it.

Darren has unfortunately come here with very little at his disposal. 6 signed players just 3 weeks from the start of the season and very little in the way of resources to boost the squad. hard enough for an experienced manager to cope with never mind one going into his first job. I think he has got the best out of the players available and have to commend him for keeping their spirits up and not resigning themselves to relegation. There is still pride to play for and as long as we still have a chance even of a play off spot I am sure the players will continue to work hard. We are only one point off Farfar and have to play them twice so I think it is in our own hands.

Just my opinion but I do believe Darren can make it as a manager as he still seems to have the backing of the players. He has been very unlucky with injuries at key times as well which has forced him into playing but I think we all saw yesterday that the basic shape of the team is good.and with a few quality additions next season I am sure we will continue to improve.

Enjoyed that today though relieved to get the points. Great banter and chat with the Brechin guys, all the best for the rest of the season hope you carry on improving an stay up.

I was on the terracing at the covered end both half's.

One of the guys off our bus was arguing with a load of them, they were quite bitter.

Glad we scraped by with the one goal and lets hope I never have to visit their craphoose next season again.

These arguments you talk about were quite funny. The Pars boy started shouting about fermers , sheep and how shite we are etc . The retorts were obviously related to clubs overspending and going bust to try and maintain full time status etc. The more he shouted, the more he got back !!!

No malice and no bitterness at all, just banter !! Hands were shaken at half time when the fans changed ends.

Glad you didn't enjoy your day though . Most of your mates did. ;)

Paton's was the worst of about a dozen great chances. Could have been another 6-1 by the looks of it.

No chance it's a foul at the second goal, very strange/brave of the defender to go in for a diving header at a corner, but certainly not a foul nonetheless.

Good of you to admit that El Backsideeo went down easily for the free kick !

Any of the Brechin chances on the highlights by any chance ? Or the free kick that Brechin didn't get on the edge of the box near the end for alledged diving ?

ParsTV are pretty selective in their highlights, as are other teams; mainly focusing on their own chances rather than half chances for the other team.

Re El Bakhtaoui and your other juvenile whinging, dry your fucking eyes.

Ah. So your reflection is based on a clip of half chances and selective editing .

Yes Pars could have easily had a few more, but on the other hand Brechin could have had a couple too. So 6-1 is possibly an unrealistic assumption .

Sorry you missed the game. The ones I spoke to seemed to realise that it wasn't all one way traffic at times.

Being brutally honest It was quite similar to the game at the start of the season tbh, the way only difference being that we took our chances, the misses by Falkingham, Faiss and Paton should've been goals, 5-1 would've been a fair result.

Brechin we're alright but they don't look half as threatening without Layne, on the plus side they look better defensively without Perry or Dodds, swings and roundabouts.

One Brechin lad with a shaved head was pushing his luck. He was offered the chance to sort it out. You lot left and he then had another Pars guy threatening him. His gas was at a peep by then. He must be Brechin's resident owner of a degree in bawbaggery.

Yep banter, I stood just in front of you lot with my wife, I had a bit of craic with some of you. But it was getting a bit boring. Sned held his own though.
