P&B Bears - Rangers Player of the Year 2015/16

Recommended Posts

Still 3 games to go in what has been a fantastic season so far, and clearly some notable contributions across the whole squad, but who's your top 3 over the term?

Mine;

1) James Tavernier

2) Lee Wallace

3) Martyn Waghorn

Yours..?

Kenny Miller. I gave him pelters last season and this season he's been immense.

Barrie McKay. The wee guys came from nowhere and grabbed the headlines.

Waggy. His goals, his work rate speak for themselves.

Kenny deserves the additional one year option on his extended contract for definite Ben! 😉

Tricky one - we've a fair few players who've had an excellent season and I'm struggling to limit it to three:

Wallace - good on the park and a real captain

Wee Barrie - Like a new signing

Holt - Terrific season for the wee man and we really struggled when he was out for a few matches.  My unsung hero of the season.

Honourable mentions for:

Miller - Improved almost beyond recognition and is a more complete player then ever he was

Waghorn - Not just a good goal tally but adds a lot by creating chances for others.

Tavernier - Maybe slack defensively but adds loads to the team

Difficult but here's mine:

1. Tav. 15 goals from a right-back? Can't defend? Tell Celtic that. The guy is a machine. The fact he isn't even nominated for Championship POTY makes a mockery of it. A stand-out season.

2. Wallace. You want class...you have it. Impeccable as a Captain, imperious as a player. How this man does not get a game for Scotland is beyond me but their loss is our win. Superb season.

3. Waghorn. All you want in a forward - strong, fast, skilful and determined. Bar his injury this guy could well have been number 1. A great footballer. He'll tear up the SP.

Credit to McKay, Holt, Halliday and Kiernan....all have had a great season.

1) Holt. Runs the show in midfield. Started off average and gradually became arguably Rangers' most important player.

2) Waghorn. Almost 30 goals this season despite missing a lot of games. Can't really leave him out of the top 3 with a goalscoring record such as that.

3) McKay. Like many Rangers fans I'd given up hope he'd make it at Rangers. Skips past players with ease and has been consistent this season. Something that was lacking from Aird and Templeton, although, like those two McKay could improve on his delivery into the box.

Difficult to choose a top 3 though when so many have done well. Miller, Wallace, Tavernier and Halliday for example have all been excellent.
