There are a few brands that define their product by the brand name. In the olden days, a vacuum cleaner was called a Hoover, a vacuum flask was called a Thermos flask, I can't think of an alternative name for crosse & blackwells pickle that tells me exactly what I'm getting.

Any other examples of the brand supplanting the product would be most welcome.

I think a lot of folk still use 'Hoover' for vacuum cleaner so not sure about 'olden days'

e.g. need a new hoover and buy a Dyson.  Not need a new 'vacuum cleaner'

Would you say:   I'm away to vacuum the car?

Apparently, when the pocket camera was invented by Kodak, they started with a slogan "Every camera is a Kodak", then their lawyers told them this was a bad idea.

In America, cling film is often called "Saran wrap".

Isn't "Fridge" short for Fridgedair - as opposed to Refrigerator.
