dogmc
SNP got 226,000 more votes than in 2011.Crikey that defies any conventional political logic. BBC will still call it a bad result tho
sparky88
That's pish. So what's the script then, coalition with the greens? It will be if the greens abandon their principles and prop up a government that supports fracking and lower air passenger duty
Menzel
Snp/green was a massive error Only a massive error if you don't want the Greens to be able to influence the SNP on policy from the left while Tories will try and do all they can to push the party of government in a further rightwards direction. Ned Nederlander
That was 2 people, who said they were ex-SNP voters (one said they voted Tory this time), and other callers were immediately on saying "bring us more refugees". Not that you're a liar or twisting the facts or anything. Indeed. I only heard one SNP voter mention refugees and whilst his point initially sounded like he was going to have a rant it turned out he was actually saying we needed more schools for them. But you'd think Labour would do that anyway now. It's not as if they can side with the Tories.

I fucking hate the Lib Dems but showing they can win constituency seats with targeted campaigns and not completely disappearing marks a good night for them. MarkoRaj
Snp/green was a massive error Actually in the north East and presumably other areas the SNP didn't pick up a list seat, SNP/SNP was the wrong call. Neither SNP nor greens got a seat so if you added the Green vote to SNP it wouldn't have made a difference whereas the opposite would have seen the Greens win at least one. Glad I went green on the list, unfortunately not enough people had the foresight
RedRob72
What a result for Davisdson and the Tories! How did that happen!!? A minority government position for the SNP, certainly wasn't in the plan for those riding on the wave of the 'yellow Tsunami' ( some of the posts on the predictions thread are looking pretty wild right now) The Unionist voice is clearly still strong, a 2nd Ref pushed further and further back. Fantastic effort!!

Hedgecutter
Who is still voting for Labour?! And why? Family tradition no doubt. Goldie on Radio Scotland pretty much nailing by saying that people wanted to see a strong opposition to the SNP and that they felt the Conservatives are the only party to be able to do that (not mentioning anything about agreeing with their policies). Granted the Greens could have provided some of that opposition, but a vote for them is a pretty risky vote when they only have a history of single figure seats.
