Deefiant
Right, my young lad has just been bitten, in the face, by the mother and father in laws dog. I'm fucking seething and if I'd have been there when it happened I'd have booted the dog to death most likely. He's not needing the hospital according to my Mrs and her family - IMO he needs a tetanus. I think they simply don't want the dog attack reported and my wife is buying their shite. My kids spend a reasonable amount of time there, we have a dog, the dog in question has known the kids for at least 4 years so they know the score about how to behave around dogs etc. IMO one strike and the fucker should be put down. I'm about to go home and state this opinion loudly and forcefully which is likely to lead to WW3 and family turmoil. Am I correct or being a reactionary w**k. P&B decides. Rugster
The dog should be destroyed imo. Same sort of thing as a wife beater, done it once, will do it again. Can't be taking chances like that. In the face too. Hope the wee man is ok.
1320Lichtie
Wouldn't push for the dug to be put down. Would just leave that. But I'd take him to hospital and then make sure that the dog doesn't get to be anywhere near your kids again.

HoBNob
Dangerously close to the wee man's eye, hope he's alright. Dogs don't usually just bite kids in the face though. What happened to provoke it?

What happened to provoke it? No one knows. They were in the kitchen with the mother in law but out of line of sight around the other side of the dining table. Zen Archer (Raconteur)
Take some sausages filled with rat poison the next time you visit. Obviously it's up to you if you feed them to the dog or your in-laws.

EdgarusQPFC
Im curious to know the circumstances of the attack, namely was the dog provoked or was this just a random act. If the dog was provoked by your son id be of the opinion that the dog isnt destroyed, if it was a random act however then definetly. Ive seen plenty of animals take absolute abuse from kids and endure it, the majority of kids dont understand when they are being too rough to an animal. Either way i hope the wee man is fine

Rugster
Update - he's going to the docs after I put my foot down. If the in laws don't agree to having the dog destroyed there are better methods than the rat poison. Just watch I Am Legend
RandomGuy.
Loathe to tell someone they should push for a dogs death tbh, but its not exactly common for a dog to attack a childs face if they're familiar with them even if they've been provoked.

Either way i hope the wee man is fine I wasn't there and no-one saw it. It's tricky. They are usually best pals and the dog is boisterous being a beagle. My son kens the score as we have a dog, my parents have dogs and he's grown up around dobermans and a Newfoundland so we're keen the kids know how to treat them - don't want one of them grabbing a kid tbh By that token the dog has never been aggressive before and is surrounded by kids, older and younger, a lot. I'm torn but the dad in me says remove the risk.
