The Partick Thistle thread

Jordan Jones is out of contract at Killie. Could be a good signing with Amoo likely leaving. Willing to take his man on and get a cross in.

Another defensive option is Eoghan O'Connell. 21-year old Celtic centre-half that's out of contract. Played fairly well in a couple of the European qualifiers for Celtic last year and has been playing in a three-at-the-back at Walsall on-loan in a mid-table league one side. He might get better offers but we can show what we've done for Liam Lindsay, Niall Keown and even Danny Devine as young centre-backs with Liam on the brink of a move to the championship and Keown being given the chance to show Reafing what he's made of. Can't say I know much about him but saw him on a list of out of contract players.

I'm doing a Morecambe career on FIFA and Ryan Edwards is indeed a tall, solid, dependable, goal-scoring defender. I also went to school with Mitja Lotric's cousin and can confirm he would tear this league a new one. HTH.

Good to see him acknowledge the club sticking with him. He seems to have a good mentality about him.

Yeah it's nice to see from both player and club. Perhaps he might even consider extending his contract with us, should he return to his previous form. In the end if he still wants to part ways we'll at least get something for it.

We don't need too many changes. I think Gary Fraser needs to go and play regularly for a championship team. I would also get rid of Callum Booth, I find him to be a defensive liability, especially late in games and I think hes one of these guys who seems to be collapsing under pressure. I think we can get better anyway. With Hibs coming up and replacing a dross outfit, its going to be tougher again next year and we need players for me who have the bottle to be able to see out tight leads.

Could be worth giving Penrice a chance, at least. East Fife fans have been very complimentary of him and he did well when he played at the end of last season. His set piece delivery would also be a huge asset.

I think Penrice looks a great prospect, slight concern it's a touch too early for him as a first team regular next season. Would have loved to have seen him in our squad at the end of this season though, get a feel of how he is progressing.

Biggest worry for me is defensively again, I'd love to keep Lindsay and Keown, but I can't see it happening and would hate to see another bad start to a campaign due to an unfamiliar back line.

I would hope that his time on loan might have helped him with the physicality of first team football and apparently he's still spent time training with the Thistle first team so he'll have had a good balance of League 1 experience and working with our guys. If I recall correctly, we scored three goals in two games as a result of his corners at the tail end of last season which can only be good.

We've conceded some amount of late goals down that left hand side. Getting rid of Booth would be a great start for me.

Strangely when I saw him play for East Fife a few weeks ago he didn't take any of their set pieces. Don't know if that has been the case during his whole time with them or just that one game.

Personally I think he would benefit from another spell out on loan. Were he still at Firhill right now I think he'd still be third choice for the left back slot. Excellent delivery of set pieces isn't alone enough to earn a first team place. He's plenty of potential but there is a bit to go yet.

Ditch Booth and replace with Penrice. Jesus christ.

Booth on form is absolutely key to our attacks even if can be a bit suspect defensively. There is maybe an argument to replacing with better but I remain happy switching between him and Elliott dependant on what formation we're playing. The entire defence goes to pot when we've conceded late and the blame does not lie just on Booth.

On another note, Scougall has been papped by Sheffield United. Imagine quite a few teams up here will be having a butchers.

I'd imagine every Premiership team outside Celtic (and maybe  Aberdeen) will be looking at both Scougall and McNulty who was also let go.

I'd be fairly surprised if anyone under contract was allowed to leave by Thistle, unless it's for personal /  family reasons for one of the non-Scottish guys.

Also, the Thistle fan at the Bankies game was club historian Robert Reid according to twitter.

Penrice isn't ready yet for me. Whilst Booth is a liability defensively and crumbles late on in games, hes alright going forward and I'd want a definite better replacement as opposed to flinging a kid in there.
