strichener
I'm all in favour of MPs and MSPs being paid more. The level of salary is far below that commensurate with the responsibility IMO. But increasing it would be a hard sell. The reason I said they could work for free is in a previous discussion it was suggested that doing 'outside' work had the advantage of ongoing exposure to outside interests so they would be so insulated. My argument is if that's really the reason, rather than making additional money, then they can have that exposure by offering their services for free. We would then see the real motivation. I agree with you. There is no reason why our elected officials should be keeping the unemployment rate higher than it needs to be by having second jobs. capybara
Lamont was never going to get that. A typical bitter SLAB . Always looks like she is chewing a wasp. I want her on the Labour benches where she can be held to account for her past actions.

TonMan
Watching her being publicly humiliated never gets old. Unlike her party, who are close to being an ancient relic at this point.
The Master
Linda Fabiani and Christine Grahame elected as deputy presiding officers. Both can still vote with the SNP when they're not chairing proceedings.

Southside Hibee
Ken Macintosh elected as presiding officer. I don't mind him, he is certainly one of the more respectable Labour MSPs.

AUFC90
Just seen a stat on Facebook that the Tories got the lowest amount of opposition seats since 2003 and the second lowest ever. Unionists 😂

I personally don't like to see the SNP cosying up to the Chinese regime or Chinese big business which are one and the same really. Glad this is being challenged, even if Rennie is a moron. strichener
You reckon that these MSPs are doing second jobs which unemployed people could do? LOL. Yes. Some MSPs have had second jobs for which you need no qualifications. Perhaps you should do a little research before laughing at others.
