Should P&B use "serious" tags on threads?

Recommended Posts

Just read a couple of threads where the posters were looking for some actual advice only for the usual suspects to clog the thread with their predictably pish responses.

I saw a forum before where everybody used to wind each other up constantly but if someone created a thread with *srs* at the end of it and anyone didn't respect it then they copped a week's ban.

There must a huge amount of knowledge amongst the large member base here, it should be encouraged to be shared imo without having to filter through endless posts of awful attempts at humour.  Would add something more practical to this forum.

I agree, but it's hard not to take the piss / laugh when some posters ask advice on utter shite, Girl A, Girl B etc.

I think if the .srs was adopted, you'd still have people posting Facebook style seeking shite but with .srs at the end.

This would probably be the last place on the planet I would come if I had a serious question and even if I did I would be sorely disappointed if the first page wasn't full of piss taking.

The depression thread is a good example of some wallopers trying to ruin things. I don't think the folk on there minded a joke, but some of it was pretty out of order.

Whilst I agree with the OP's sentiments I think each thread finds it's own way based on its own merits rather than whether it was started with serious intentions or not.

In addition, it goes without saying that the OP is one of the most tedious posters on P&B and is one of the worst offenders when it comes to dragging a thread to it's knees.
