Ceiling Granny
I thought one of the biggest issues was after about 75 minutes Bair looked done, and it was around that time we started more hit and hope up the park. Bair isn’t really there to chase balls at the best of times, far less when he’s knackered. In combination with what’s already been mentioned regarding the subs it’s hard not to attribute the defeat to Kettlewell.
real-name-hidden
Negatives: Butcher, Kelly’s distribution at goal kicks was questionable at all times , lack of a change in direction when it became apparent that the ball in-behind was no longer working when they brought on Carter-Vickers. I’m not as sure on Ketts as I was before today. Positives: Vale looks the part, really impressed by him today. Miller seems to be back to his best.
Stevie Kirk
Being honest about it they missed a couple of sitters in regulation time . That said this routine we go through of giving away goals to them in 90 plus minutes is getting very tedious to watch. Jack Vale was excellent first half an absolute nuisance to the Celtic back line. Unfortunately he was blowing out his arse after 55 mins and when he eventually went off the game got played entirely in our half .

Antiochas III
People need to remember budgets as well. Celtic make a sub, and their quality will remain the same, or get better. We can't do that. Unfortunately not helped by a poor decision by the manager don't help. Casey's back up Blaney, anyone that thinks any other defender is better than Mugabi at the no nonesense centre half position hasn't been paying attention, so why shuffle to get Butcher in when Blaney is right there? Meanwhile, I'm not saying Oli Shaw for Lennon Miller is the biggest downgrade the world of sport has ever seen, but it is, by far the biggest downgrade ever seen .

If Casey was hurt we should have brought Blaney on. This was exactly it for me. Losing Casey, totally rearranging it, then Gent taking a knock as well as being knackered and ending up with a completely different left hand side absolutely smoked us considering Yang was really improving them down that side already. On the plus side, first half we could have been 2 or 3 up. Vale looks a great asset every game I think, solid from Devine on the right and I thought Kelly has his best game in a wee while. Came for a couple of high balls, one good rush out and the close header he took well.
ropy
Every sub would have walked off the pitch thinking job done. As soon as we reorganised the defence we conceded a free kick on the edge of the box then followed that up with 2 goals. The changes were probably needed but just go like for like, it was working.
Pettigrew
Heavy late period Peter Hartley vibes from Calum Butcher.
ropy
Is Halliday another crock? Bringing him into the midfield would theoretically have bolstered us. Oli Shaw playing the Conor Wilkinson midfield mystery tour wasn’t effective, he would have been better playing up front and taking over the running from Bair.
well fan for life
We had a good first XI on the park today but everything that came off the bench was fucking rotten. Butcher's looking like he's done for good, SOD doesn't have the legs to play RWB and Oliver Shaw is one of the worst signings we've ever made. Vale's work rate was a huge part of why we were so successful in the first half to go from that to Shaw who is both terrible at football and a lazy b*****d meant we had nothing that could drag us up the park late on. So we just sat deeper and deeper right at the end. A great idea for a team who, famously, are watertight at the back.
ropy
We’ve lost our place at the top of the last minute goals league.
Well Fan
In game management is an integral part of a good manager/coach partnership. (for ex. Tommy McLean) SK/SF may analyse teams and plan well beforehand (not confirmed) but it's abundantly clear, decisions made of late have not impacted our performance in a positive manner. Shuffling players out of position to accommodate substitutions is mostly a recipe of disaster. Changes today involved our defence, who have been guilty of multiple mistakes over the course of the season. So shuffle the pack further and who's surprised what unfolds in injury time. Harsh but totally avoidable. He really needs to have players able to play other formations, but that's the dilemma. He has hamstrung himself in that respect and that lies squarely on him. Think we will survive, but, he needs to take stock and have a more varied structure going forward. Good luck to him.
Cedrics Mighty Well Army
As a wise gnome once said "The best form of defence is attack". One up front was just asking them to come onto us. They kept four back first half.
fat_tony
That's a tough loss to take today. Could've been more than 1-0 up at half time with some better decisions but it just shows the different worlds Motherwell and Celtic operate in. They swap one multi-million pound striker for another, who changes the game, we bring on a guy who can't get a game for Barnsley. Great goal superbly worked by Miller to get in front but looked like the players just ran out of steam towards the end. Need to keep the performances going over the next few weeks, then we can get a break from the gruesome twosome.

Handsome_Devil
1 hour ago, Ron Aldo said: Losing to Celtic is to be expected. Losing after being a goal up at half time isn't even that surprising. But having a point at 90 minutes but still contriving to lose by 2 fucking goals sums this mob up. The last goal we had half the team in front of the ball, losing 1-2 or 1-3 is totally irrelevant. Agree I wouldn't have made the same subs but Celtic had already missed at least two 100%ers by injury time...it was more than coming.
