The 30 year-old Edinburgh-born player has made over 250 League and Cup appearances south of the border and also enjoyed spells at Leyton Orient, Southend United and Tranmere Rovers. City Manager Gary Jardine, who knew Laird as a youngster before he left for Manchester City, was happy to oblige when the player asked for training facilities and the player himself was impressed with both the welcome he received and the quality of player in the squad. Jardine commented “Marc is a quality footballer who is vastly experienced having tasted success in being promoted with Millwall but more recently helping Yeovil Town to stay in the Football League last season. The players are working extremely hard to turn things around just now and bringing in someone of Marc’s quality will give everyone at the Club a lift” Sounds like a good buy. Could be the spoiler we need at the back to shore up our leeky defence. (That joke might get passed a few people who don't know their nationalities)
Mr Blobby
Fanzine point of view. After Annan away day, looking forward and ahead to 3 home games in a row against Arbroath, Elgin City and Clyde.

Mr Blobby
A world of a difference between Mr Blobby being given a pre-match ban by Stirling Albion (a club in turmoil dispensing with their manager Stuart McLaren today) at Forthbank a couple of weeks ago and the warm welcome by Annan Athletic and their fans.
tamthebam
the naughty wee fella also spawned Son of Blobby who was at the match today! Annan fans were in good voice "Blobby, Blobby, give us a wave" was one chant.
Leicesterlichtie
Well done getting a point today at Annan, tough place to go. Must be getting closer to a 1st win.....but not against us next week.
tamthebam
aye, Annan keeper denied us on a couple of occasions in the 2nd half. Mind you Andrew Stobie had to pull off a good block late on...

We could have an epidemic on our hands if City keep getting these scoring draws.

The first time since the opening League game v Forfar Athletic, I think. (He came on as a sub late in the first half v Montrose last weekend and also as a late second half double substitution with Ousman See v Stirling Albion the previous week). Beattie had a great game IMO. A menace up front spearheading with Ousman See, always willing to take a punt at goal. Jumped for every ball in the air that came his way, tricky footwork with deft passing and short runs. You'd think that with Annan having the plastic pitch, this would be a passing game on the ground but no, lots of long balls over the top from both sides. New signing Mark Laid looked good too just behind the front two. Crowd 351 + 2 Blobbies.
Mr Blobby
Big Jo Mbu was strong at the back as usual and Shaun Harrison caused a stir when he went in with both feet at the rushing Annan forward. Fortunately, Shaun missed the player and the ball and nothing came of it. Edited December 9, 2016 by Mr Blobby

Stellaboz
Was See the lad that came on late on against Montrose? He looks really lively and good feet on him, think him and Beattie might do well for you in League Two if you can get the ball into feet instead of high balls to them. Going to follow your results after my jolly to Meadowbank last week!

Going to follow your results after my jolly to Meadowbank last week! Aye that's him, he's had some bad injuries but for me should be the focal point of the team now, he's caused every defence he's faced real problems. Glad you enjoyed your trip, might try and make the return game myself.

So here's the first of the 20 part series of 'Whatever Happened To The Fisul Lads?' that you asked for. This one is in two parts with the second episode in the Issue Seven of the City Fanzine being produced for the home match verses Clyde on 15th October. To stay loyal and in keeping with the topic on this thread, the protagonist Douglas Lindsay, ends up back at Meadowbank for Edinburgh City's inaugural League Two home tie with Forfar Athletic on 6 August 2016. PS. That headline on the front cover, "Page 3 - Arbroath up in Smoke" might change after Saturday's game. It all depends on the result at Meadowbank. GordonD
Ta for that! Have to say I don't remember the game he's talking about - six goals in the second half? Must have missed that game as I'm sure that would stick in my memory!
