Ayr International Scotland Cup

Was down at the Ayr International Tournament at the weekend at Rozelle Park in Ayr with the team I coach, Winlinton Wolves 15s.

We played our 3 group games over Friday & Saturday, drawing our first game with Dungoyne Fc from Northern Ireland 0-0. On the Saturday we won our remaining group games 9-0 & 2-0 against Greystone Rovers & Cumnock Jnrs putting us in to the semi final on Sunday against Kilwinning Rovers, who we went on to beat 5-0 meaning we had the final on Monday at Dam Park which was scheduled for a 5:30 kick off against Dungoyne Fc who also had reached the final.

This time was not suitable for Dungoyne as they had a sailing to get back home, which is totally understandable, the organiser Duncan Mcintyre then moved the game to a 1 o'clock kick off without informing us until we where leaving the park on Sunday, the 1 o'clock kick off wasn't suitable for us as we where going to struggle to get the boys over for that time with parents working etc. Duncan then advised that Winlinton Wolves would be given the cup and that we had "Got what we wanted" which was totally not true. We spoke to Dungoyne and both teams agreed to a 2:30 kick off which we then said to Duncan who told us that the decision had been made and was not up for discussion meaning both Winlinton Wolves & Dungoyne where to lose out on playing at Dam Park in the final which both teams deserved over the weekend.

We where advised to have the boys at Dam park for 5pm to collect our cup and medals and be presented with this as a team. When we arrived at Dam park yesterday at 5 we where advised that they had came to an agreement with other organisers to share the winners status and that Dungoyne had been presented with the trophy at 3:15 and had left for there trip home to Northern Ireland. This left our squad of players standing at Dam park without a trohpy and I was handed the medals and told to present them to the team myself as there wouldn't be a presentation by them, which left all players, coaches & parents very unhappy. To add further insult we had been advised by parents of other clubs that Duncan the main organiser for this tournament had announced over the PA system that Winlinton Wolves had failed to turn up for the final and that he was disappointed as we where the local team and we should have shown more hospitality towards Dungoyne and that we where to blame for no final being played, again more lies.

All this could have been sorted by having a conversation, we had agreed a kick off time with Dungoyne but the arrogance of the organisers put a stop to this. Congratulations to Dungoyne, we where looking forward to playing again after a cracking game on Friday night.

Just been sent on a video from Dungoyne Fc showing Duncan Mcintyre slating Winlinton Wolves, he called us an

Embarrassment to scottish football, an Embarrassment to Ayrshire football and he apolgised on behalf of the tournement,

You can hear how shocked Dungoyne parent's and coaches are at this as they know the truth of the matter is that Duncan Mcintyre refused to help both teams and allow the boys the final they deserve. Time for Mr Mcintyre to step down.

Get Duncan on to defend himself. Two sides to every story........

Would love for Duncan to come on and tell his side of the story or anyone from the tournement to be honest.

This might be a better way for him to communicate as he had no interest in speaking to us face to face.
