I think it's been on the go a good few years in Europe has it not?

St Johnstone fans were doing it in 2014 when we won the Scottish Cup, I thought some of the young lads had picked it up from European games, could be wrong.

Of course it has  The Hungarian fans were doing it in their first game against Austria. It was pretty clear that it wasn't until the Iceland fans saw the Hungary do it that the Icelandic fans did it. Unless Motherwell have a big Hungarian following, this is pish.

I'm not doubting the article that Icelandic fans first encountered it v Well, I'm simply saying I thought it was an older chant that had been going around Europe for quite a few years.

The wee st johnstone fannies copied off Motherwell along with the rest of their routine.

There are actual Icelandic people confirming that Stjarnan fans took it from Motherwell fans and brought it to their national team games. Your well sourced story is clearly refuting those first hand accounts

Not surprised a monosyllabic chant was popular with Motherwell fans, they probably couldn't remember the words

The well Bois have been about for years , they had a rather amusing "we welcome the chase" banner against us at fir park when they were sitting ahead of us in the table after a few games of the season in 2010/2011 I think .

We won 3-0

I was at the game but wouldn't have seen the banner.

Fucked off to the beer garden after the third as well.
