Mortar Bored
RIP, still one of the best lines ever. "So Debbie, what first attracted you to the multimillionaire Paul Daniels.
Njord
RIP, still one of the best lines ever. "So Debbie, what first attracted you to the multimillionaire Paul Daniels. Though a line that was both wrong and ironic. McGhee had more cash than Daniels when they met , unlike Aherne when she married the multimillionaire plug faced New Order boy. Swordfishtrombone
Not that it matters but Njord is wrong Daniels and Mcghee married in 1988 he had been a mainstream success for over a decade and was comfortably a millionaire at that point she was a dancer then a magicians assistant. New Order were possibly still trying to recoup the money they had spunked on Factory records. Anyway she was very funny and the first couple of series of Royle Family hold up against any comedies. Cheers for the correction.I didn't think anyone involved in the Hacienda/factory records would be a multi millionaire.Probably just Njord being edgy on a dead person thread again. djchapsticks
She was excellent in The Royal Family and The Fast Show. Not gonna pretend I'm sad but a shame none the less. Think it's sad that someone who was clearly a brilliant comedic writer has died so young. The Royle Family is a rarity in that it's a British comedy that will remain timeless and still be funny in 30, 40 years. For me, only Fawlty Towers and to a lesser extent Only Fools share the same distinction.

ICTJohnboy
There were many fine tributes paid to Ms Aherne from most of the cast of the Royle Family along with many others from the world of show business in general. Anyone any idea why there's been nothing at all from her long time conspirator, Craig Cash, apart from a deafening silence? Would he have enjoyed as much success as he has had without her contributions?
