Amazon Prime Day

Recommended Posts

Anyone had a look at this so far? I think it's like a mini version of their "Black Friday" but for prime members only. Not much catching my eye so far but a few deals later on look like they might be interesting.

Going to have a look later.

To be honest the £70 a year I spend on Prime is probably the best value for money I get on anything all year round. We get order stuff every other day from that place and absolutely rip the arse out of the free next day delivery. It probably saves me £50 a month on shipping fees.

Then they throw in an ever improving movie service, music and now this.

It's a total no-brainer, absolutely brilliant VFM!

I had Prime a few years ago when it was much cheaper before they added Amazon TV to it and doubled (I think) the price and I cancelled. They offered me another free trial recently and I took it and same as you, I order stuff regular as clockwork and the next day delivery is absolutely superb. Not just the fact it's next day, but some of the bulkier stuff I order would cost a fortune in shipping fees normally.

I don't really use the movies or music though, should really look into that more.

Is there any point in having both Amazon prime and Netflix,

I've got both and I hardly ever use Netflix. Depends how much telly you watch I suppose.

There's still plenty stuff that's either Amazon or Netflix exclusive so it really just depends what you're more likely to watch.

I've been thinking about getting rid of my Sky package altogether and just signing up to Amazon Prime, does anyone currently do this?  I have Netflix at the moment and I'm wondering if having Sky is worth it all with the Champions League no longer on there and only really Super Sunday to look forward to (which year on year I get more bored of).  I enjoy a lot of BBC shows but it seems you get iPlayer on Prime? I watch BT sport for football and UFC but I can get that online too. Sky Atlantic shows would probably be the only thing I'd miss.

I've found the films on Prime to be a bit crap. Some good TV shows on demand though.

I wouldn't say Prime is worth it just for the movies.

I took Prime out purely for the next day delivery stuff. The TV, Films and Music stuff is just a wee bonus but I hardly ever use it whereas Netflix gets absolutely hammered in my house!

Yeah Prime movies are really pretty poor. Some decent TV stuff, the music I presume is good but I've got Spotify separately. Delivery is great or the free £1/£3 credit if you don't need it in a rush. Have bought plenty of stuff I don't need today but most of it is returnable.

Bought a 'dodgy' box off some guy I was put in contact with. Cost me £200 and its comes with sky and all the channels, box office etc also included. It updates itself and all that but I'm sure after the first year the subscription goes to £30 a year which is still better than what sky charge.

Sounds like a good deal. What are the authorities avenues for finding out that you've got one of these bad boys installed (aside from openly admitting you've got it on a public forum :P )?

It's not illegal to stream

I admit I'm not clued up on this but I'd have thought that watching Sky subscription channels/Box Office/BT etc. without paying for them through Sky/BT would be against the law?

It is, if you download it but since it's streaming it's legal.
