Am extremely surprised that BT are advertising live games at 3pm on a Saturday. Given that this is illegal under both Scots Law and European Law, and is not permitted under UEFA regulations, how are they going to get away with it? Apart from the financial penalties, if any club can prove that attendances have been directly affected by it , they are entitled to claim compensation from BT. On top of that, any pub showing live football on a Saturday afternoon is in line for a hefty fine. (This actually happened in Dundee a couple of years ago when somebody hit on the idea of showing live English football via an Arabic satellite. Not for long.) Anybody  know what's going on?

UEFA blackout doesn't apply until August, I think..

Aye a company like BT definitely won't have fully looked at the full legalities of this and will have definitely blundered in to possible litigation. They won't have had teams of lawyers look at all the possible issues.

I'm presuming the OP is referring to the League Cup sectional games, which include Motherwell v Rangers this Saturday and St Johnstone v Falkirk next Saturday.

It will be OK as they'll fall before the 'blocked broadcasting' period begins, although presumably it means that is the case across the Home Nations as BT don't broadcast regionally?

Most likely it's one of the reasons they were prepared to stump-up double what the BBC used to, coupled with getting 13 games instead of 4.

That said - no-one imagines that a meaningful number of people are going to avoid other games to watch St Johnstone v Falkirk, but some might for Motherwell v Rangers. Presumably that's why Airdrie moved to Friday?

Keen to know why Aberdeen vs Hearts on Sat 13th August has NOT been selected for live TV transmission?

Suits us playing at 3pm on a Saturday - but maybe an early sign that perceived "natural order" is being restored as Dundee v Sevco (8th vs 13th last season, is deemed a priority over 2nd vs 3rd).

AFC and Hearts produced a post-split dead rubber that was one of the worst ever witnessed and broadcast live - but all other games between the two were also live last season and each of them was decent (even the grizzly cup tie if you had maroon-tinted specs on).

Anyway - since there are normally at least two live Scottish games on - I thought I'd work out what the other one was that weekend - of course, the unmissable Inter Milan vs Celtic 20 second-half subs fest.

I think you may be under the misapprehension that the tv companies actually give a damn about Scottish football. It's a Buy 2 Get 40 Free deal for them to sell packages. That's all they care about, not the Scottish game.
