Crùbag
Britain's not a trader, just a warmonger. Interesting piece at that bastion of republican socialism, the Financial Times. Quote In the imperial age, Britain was in the habit of blasting its way into global markets. https://www.ft.com/content/e3e32b38-0fc8-11e7-a88c-50ba212dce4d

Bully Wee Villa
Wasn't there talk of a fully-elected EU Head of State and the idea was widely condemned by all those who hate Europe?

Should obviously be the hereditary right of someone whose parent did it because their parent did it because their great-great-great-great-great grandparent was appointed by God.
Colkitto
Looks like Spain has played a blinder early over Gibraltar. With a powerful veto it has forced the UK into making some sort of concession to them. Will Scottish fishing be sacrificed for example to get some agreement with Spain?
resk
Only 500 million? Definitely worth it, that.

Scottish fishing will be the first thing sold off in a bid to get a better deal with the EU. With Spain now looking to plant there flag in Gibraltar it just reinforces how shite our negotiating position is. The hopelessness of this tory government is astounding and we're only 1 year into a 5 year term. How anyone can look south and say 'Yes, these guys best represent me and have my interests at heart' is beyond me.

Bully Wee Villa
Have Spain actually said anything about Gibraltar? The only info I've seen was some speculation in the lower-quality press about unnamed "Brussels Mandarins" mentioning the issue.Any quotes from members of the Spanish authorities?

Bully Wee Villa
That's not the same though. That sounds like an optimistic reach out after the Gibs voted to Remain. Anything specifically saying they will use the Brexit negotiations to force discussions on the status of The Rock?
Stephen Malkmus
I read something on the Reuters app the other day that Spain's three main parties were discussing / had formulated a joint strategy on Gibraltar since the Brexit vote but I can't find it now.
