Prominent loyalist Robert Girvan said: "I can’t see loyalism of any strand just walking into a situation where there is any type of economic union with the Irish Republic. I was talking to someone who said we’ll see how hard the border is if bombs start going off in Limerick." He said groups such as the UVF had been formed to protect Northern Ireland's place in the union. "If that place is threatened, the organisations will step up to the mark," he said. "This is not empty rhetoric. When a loyalist says ‘over my dead body’, they mean it. The dog is in the trap and we are waiting to see when the hare will be released,"

alr
See Kuennsberg is tweeting that if it's voted down tonight it will be a December general election - have we not already seen Johnson try to set up a general election at a time of his choosing and failed? Twice? Would expect her to know this - although she has used her 'No 10 Source' pish. Incidentally I read this about the press and 'No. 10 Sources' only a couple of hours ago and it is far more eloquent than drunken me was at 3am on Sunday morning: https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocracyuk/british-journalists-have-become-part-of-johnsons-fake-news-machine/ Edited October 22, 2019 by alr

It's all about timing to avoid crashing out in the lead up. Edited October 22, 2019 by welshbairn

That would require a simple majority and the Tories are hoping the SNP would support it on the basis that the SNP really want a GE. I don’t think that will happen.

Melanius Mullarkey
Imagine being Labour, being the opposition to this shower of shite and still losing a GE. At least it would see the end of Corbyn you would think.
