Thanks for filling the gaps. Shia LaBeouf's anti-Trump, He Will Not Divide Us "art" exhibit was trolled by 4chan nerds for the 3rd time. It was originally a livestream based in NYC, but he moved it to New Mexico after a bunch of fights and trolling at the camera. Same thing in New Mexico. He then put up a white "He Will Not Divide Us" flag at an undisclosed location with a continuous livestream. 4chan studied plane chem trails and star patterns to narrow down the location to rural Tennessee. Then they had people drive around honking their horns until you could hear the horns on the livestream. 4chan than captured the HWNDU flag and replaced with with a MAGA hat.

It was a fairly big deal last time around. To the extent that the news is talking about Europe it's Wilders and Le Pen. If you have a neutral hat you can put on in place of your Scotland hat, what are the odds the gap can be closed so soon after the failure last time around?

harry94
A few news outlets reporting that the director of the FBI, James Comey, will brief two senators and answer if there has been a direct investigation on the Trump campaign and it's links to Russia. It's apparently being done in advance of some sort of a committee meeting but I don't know if that will be disclosed publicly. There's also a justice department press conference scheduled for 16:30 our time which there's a chance of being related but that's probably coincidence. My instinct will be there will be an answer along the lines of 'We investigated and although links did exist, this was with no intent to break the law' and this would put the issue of a direct impeachment to bed (I doubt the senate could find something that the FBI couldn't) and we'll see a bit of embarrassment as an investigation may be viewed as an admission of some sort of guilt but nothing more. I expect more limited, hand picked, tax return leaks (releases) to try and show how clean he is. Seems too calm for anything much more right now.
Paco
Quite enjoying the seethe about Trump's tax returns showing nothing other than he paid a shitload of tax. Media have no idea what to do. Wide variety of angles being discussed as to how it can be framed as a negative, all the way from suggesting he leaked it himself, to criticism of his tax proposals as he paid so much as a result of laws he's looking to scrap. I do like the idea of Trump sneaking out of the White House under cover of darkness, looking for a post box though. In TV shows the President just sticks on a baseball cap and goes for a wander. I'd love to think that happens in reality.
NotThePars
This thread's like that bit in The Thick of It when Peter Mannion's all stoked ready to deliver his findings when the PM suddenly resigns. Nobody gives a shit right now, we're voting for independence again.

He's got a long history of leaking stories to the press and has been caught doing it. The biggest example that you could easily look up and find quite broad consensus on him having leaked himself was the John Miller tapes (he pretended to be a publicist and phoned up reporters) which most people on both sides think he used as a ploy (for different reasons) and there is evidence which suggests that the only tape was in possession (like this tax release has 'CLIENTS COPY' written in big letters over it which implies it must have been in his possession too). Basically, there's demand over his tax returns and allegations that he's fired someone for this reason. By this limited information being found, it makes him look good and gives the perception that it's a realistic snap shot of his affairs and people like you eat up and take joy in the evil liberal media being proved wrong. Not addressed are any of the questions that were raised as it's taken into isolation for a very specific year before the crash and before the Russian money was said to have come (stated by his own son). We don't know what the findings of those issues would be but there's no question that leaking favourable information is an efficient tool that politicians can use to cool issues. This isn't hard stuff to grasp.

This isn't hard stuff to grasp. Haha. What. I was simply offering comment on the media trying their best to find a negative amongst it (which may well be there, I don't really care). Not vindicating anything he's ever done. Not "hard stuff to grasp". Try taking a breath next time.
Granny Danger
I'm trying to understand why Trump would release a tax return for 2005. Is this a special year? Is this when he was discussing grabbing pussy with Billy Bush?

The pages with the Russian deals were kept back, obviously.
mjw
Strange that he couldn't release his returns during the election. Because 'audits'Then when a reporter tweets about exposing one of his returns,he suddenly releases the same one before the reporter.

Releasing a 2005 tax return is like a United supporter going on about our European glory days. Did you know we beat Barcelona four out of four in competitive matches?

Deplorable
John McCain said that Rand Paul is an agent of Putin and Russia on the Senate floor today. The Never Trumpers are losing their minds. 1 hour ago, mjw said: Some rally this he is having in Nashville. Toys out the pram because he can't get his own way. What did he say? Caught the bit about disbanding the 9th circuit. Our system of checks and balances is a bit out of whack since in recent history there's been no checks on the courts to make sure they stay within the law. In the past the other branches of governments would put the courts in check when they overstepped. Time to restore proper checks and balances to protect democracy. It's within the Constitutional power of the Executive and Legislative Branches to disband any court except the Supreme Court if they work together.
Deplorable
Trump had a nice speech at Andrew Jackson's house in honor of his 250th birthday. It's amazing to see how close the Democrats were to writing the founder of their party and one of the greatest Americans ever out of respectable history, and it shows how under the influence that party is of minority groups who hate America and it's history. Obama attempted to take him off the $20 bill. Across the country, the main even for each state Democrat Party has always been the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner (the two founders of the Democrat Party), but in the Obama years state after state renamed the event. It's great to see Donald stand up for great Americans of the past.

Why were the Guardian and BBC reporting it and Democrat politicians like Hillary Clinton hinting about it before Trump ever said anything?
