The Constitutional protection against compelling a spouse to testify against someone is at the option of the spouse, not the defendant. Payment from the PAC in this way is work income and thus allows her to bank a decent amount ($66,000) into a Sep IRA retirement account, another $7,000 or so into a Roth IRA, and the rest can be placed into investments. She’s not stupid, and she certainly isn’t relying on Donald for security…and she feels his cult needs to see her supporting him to preserve the illusion.
