That's him taking the US out of the Paris climate agreement.
Striking a blow against made up Chinese climate change.

It's not official yet, it could just be someone in Whitehouse leaking to try and influence his decision, his advisors are split on the issue.

It is now

Lying to his gullible support again. Nothing will take effect till the next Presidential election, when it will most likely reverse. Promising them jobs while he takes their health benefits and welfare and hands the cash to the richest 1%. He's not only an ignorant c**t, but just a c**t with not even that excuse.

He could quite literally shoot one of his supporters outside Trump Towers and the supporters would continue to applaud him. It's a masterstroke in hegemonic dominance; turkeys willingly voting for Christmas.

Apart from keeping a weird election promise to the northern states I don't see the point in pulling out. Even fuel companies wanted him to stay in.
CA, NY and WA have already said they will just deal with climate change at state level, so it probably won't even change that much.

There's a lot of faux-outrage of "please won't someone think of the children" on social media though.
Do they know that the agreement does start for years?

It doesn't make much difference in the big scheme of things as a lot of the key decisions are made at the state level rather than in Washington, DC. The US paradoxically often has a better record on making progress on sustainable renewable options than some of the countries that make the most noise about supporting the whole environmentalist global warming agenda given its such a friendly environment for venture capitalism. People like Elon Musk do a lot more to make a sustainable future a viable possibility than the likes of Angela Merkel or Justin Trudeau. Change will happen quickly when it makes economic sense to use solar and wind rather than fossil fuels and that is starting to actually happen to a certain extent. The key stumbling block is energy storage to balance supply with demand and the Green lobby tend to be very dishonest when it comes time to explain how they plan to address that.

Trump's main support are the type of folk likely to be climate change deniers anyway.  The agreement already permits individual states to contribute as much or as little as they want, so Trump is flat out lying when he says this will benefit the USA.  It's a hollow gesture for the industrial states which will only serve to isolate the US.  Which is precisely what Trump wants.  American First basically means America alone.

This really boils down to a debate between myopic Trumpers who wilfully ignore science, and hyperbolic save-the-planet social media activists.

It boils down to creating jobs the millions of people and businesses living in the rust belt of America couldn't care less if climate change is real or not.

Right. In reality, Donald Trump will not bring one extra job to any of these areas. So this is how he pretends he is solving the issue.
