Warburton Resigns

I think King`s statement is actually fairly accurate, last season was a success, promotion was achieved comfortably and they got to a Scottish cup final.  With the money that has been spent this season then we really should be finishing comfortably in second spot, instead we are struggling to fulfill that goal, Warburton`s plan has failed and does not look like changing, a new face may salvage the situation and 2nd is still a strong possibility.

how can paying at least 10 times the nearest challenger in wages and probably 2 or 3 times the rest of the league combined be seen as a success? throw any guy off the street that has played football manager and i am sure he or she could have done the same.

The trouble is that the morons that follow sevco, took the penalty kick win against celtic as some kind of sign that they were as good as them.

See how that has panned out......

Why on earth did it take from Monday until late on Friday night for the club to release news of this resignation?

It's a ludicrous claim that this resignation was absolute and unequivocal.  Clearly, it wasn't.

It must be alarming for Rangers fans to learn that 60% of this massive investment has apparently already been made.

Clearly the main objective was winning the league, that was successfully achieved.  Getting to a cup final and beating a team whose wages were 7x greater could also be seen as reasonable progress.  It went downhill with some poor signings and the ability to adapt when facing better opposition, basically he failed, happens to managers at clubs all the time, but hey this is sevco and we must have a 100 page thread.

Correct. 100 pages of LAUGHTER

What makes you say he failed?  Rangers are level on points with Aberdeen and second place isn't totally out of their reach.  Failed how?

Ah right, so spending probably double what Aberdeen are spenidng yet being behind them in the league is not a failure in your eyes then?

The position on top of the signings and the performances really add up to a not very good job.

Not sure why folk would argue with this.

Because they can no longer afford the decent solicitors that would've checked the loophole they're exploiting any quicker.

If it was the case, as seems to be accepted, that it was Forest who were the other club then given Rangers have apparently known about this "resignation" since Monday then waiting a 5 days and announcing Warburton's "resignation" after Forest have confirmed their caretaker management team until the end of the season seems...odd?

It seems like they've really gone out their way to kneecap Warburton.

It is painfully obvious to Rangers fans and hilariously obvious to other fans, that Rangers style of play is all to predictable and easy to play against, it is also clear he is going to persevere with his plan despite being found out, it pretty much was over.

You're fucking right it's hilarious!

What have they spent £18 million on?!

Signings under Warburton...

Wilson (Free)
Foderingham (Free)
Thompson (Free)
Halliday (Free)
Forrester (Free)
Gostomski (Free)
Barton (Free)
Hill (Free)
Kranjcar (Free)
Gilks (Free)
Hodson (Undisc.)
Senderos (Free)
Bates (Free)
Windass (60k)
Crooks (60k)
Holt (65k)
Waghorn (200k)
Tavernier (200k)
Kiernan (220k)
Alnwick (250k)
Rossiter (250k)
Dodoo (250k)
O'Halloran (500k)
Garner (1.5M)

I'm making that out to be Just over £3.5 Million (depending how much Hodson went for really). Assuming some of those fees are being paid up in installments or whatever I'll be generous and say £3,000,000 has been spent by Sevco in the last 18 months.

So if King is saying that £18,000,000 of the warchest has gone, minus £3,000,000 transfer fees, that means £15,000,000 has went on wages?

Right. Bit of tricky maths coming up.

8 of those players came in  18 months ago and are still there. That's a total of 144 months.

3 came in 12 months ago but one left in the summer. That's 30 months.

12 players came in six months ago for 72 months total

And, obviously, the management team who who just "resigned" had been there for 18 months each

So the total amount of months all the signings/staff have been there is now 300 months (not including loan signings).

Multiply that by 4 and we have 1,200 weeks worth of wages.

Gives us an average of £12,500 per week as a wage.

Rangers are fucking mental

If it was obvious. The board should have sacked him instead of pretending he resigned. They could have paid him of because it is not as if they are skint they have millions.

Perhaps everyone thought Warburton was nailed on to get the Job, perhaps Warburton asked for the announcement to be delayed until the contract was signed, if it all then fell away and Warburton suddenly wanted to stay then this is what may have caused the delay?  who knows?  I doubt this is what anyone planned for though.

All fair enough.  The fact is that none of us know.

Would you agree though that it seems unlikely that this resignation was cast iron, given the guddly, delayed way it emerged?

You're right.  I was just winding you up.  The Rangers under Warburton really have been shite/underperforming this season.

Some, but according the accounts the club is running at a loss, dropped significantly but still a loss, there was also the not insignificant loan to Fat Mike that had to be paid off, I reckon Rangers are spending £10m - £12m on wages

King was happy for this £30m investment to sound like a war chest for spending on players.

The reality though is that millions have been needed to keep those lights on and the club is still a long way from being sustainable.

I will say that Rangers obviously wanted rid of him and that it looks like Warburton or his agent have played this poorly and left the door open for Rangers to take this action, he was probably desperate to get away.

I think that's true.

What none of us know, but will surely find out, is the extent to which King is 'at it' in taking this action.  Can the communications on Monday reasonably be regarded as a resignation, which Warburton and co then attempted to withdraw?
