Detournement
It's going to be interesting to see how Sturgeon handles the potential nurses strike. Radio Scotland said Humza refused to discuss it today which must be a first on any issue for him.

Detournement
The Scottish Embassies are basically the SNP version of No Work Jobs. Big Val could be our Vito in France. Get them to f**k.

The first "Scottish embassies" were actually established by the Scottish office in 1975 and continued with enthusiasm by the first labour devolved administration's. The idea has been built upon over the years because it has been so successful. Last year showed Scotland had a 14% increase in inward investment as opposed to a UK average of 1.8%. Any cost these embassies incur is likely dwarfed many times by the investment gained.

We had higher inward investment because the SNP and the Greens sold off our renewable assets to Big Oil for buttons. It's f**k all to do with Sturgeon's pals troughing it all over the continent. Even if you believe the spin that gets put on this it still doesn't make any impact on the Scottish Government budget. Scottish Government spending is a zero sum game and every penny that is spent on Haggis truffles and complimentary whiskey is money that is coming out of social care and the NHS.

Ach, don’t worry - I’m sure our portion of that £350 million going to the NHS each year will validate your gladness in Brexit having been forced on us and carried out by those socialist Tories.

You inadvertently make the point. The Scottish government are not doing it to bring in direct revenue for themselves. They are doing it to bring in revenue to the wider Scottish economy. Its strange that British Nationalist commentators found no wrong in it when it was seen as a successful venture established by a Conservative secretary of state, and then carried on and expanded by following Labour administrations. Now its all "haggis truffles and complimentary whiskey"...........cringe.

Granny Danger
Not sure if this is the right thread, but: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-63659754 NHS chiefs in Scotland discuss having wealthy pay for treatment This paragraph, if the reporting is accurate, would be a sacking offence for whichever Scottish Government minister(s) gave it the green light IMO: The group were then advised that they had been given the "green light to present what boards feel reform may look like" and that "areas which were previously not viable options are now possibilities". Any such brief must come with clear parameters one of which would prevent this idea from even being discussed.
