SweeperDee Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 He's been diagnosed with younger onset Alzheimer's disease. Pretty horrible thing regardless of what you think of the perma-glo chap.
ICTChris Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 An awful disease and he's young to get it as well.
Dons_1988 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I've been a big critic of his but horrible news. All the best Jimmy.
bennett Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 One of the worst things imaginable to watch happening to someone.
Sheep62 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Sure Sir James will fight it with dignity. Wishing him the best of luck
WhiteRoseKillie Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 All sympathy, not only to him but his family. Absolute nightmare of a situation for those who have to watch their nearest and dearest gradually lose their grasp. Something I would never wish on my worst enemy.
senorsoupe Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 This is truly tragic news, I would never wish this on anyone. My Gran had alzheimers and it's so hard on not only the person with the disease but the family as well, Calderwood is also only 62 which is so young, this is truly awful for them.
Distant Doonhamer Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Sad to hear. Good luck to him and to his family and friends
williemillersmoustache Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Very sad news, the twa Jimmy's era was one I'll remember fondly. All the best big tango.
Poet of the Macabre Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 That's really shit. Thankfully he's not doing too badly just now but it's an absolute b*****d of a condition.
DA Baracus Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I mind listening to an interview with him last season and he was all over the place with games and incidents concerning his time with us. I thought he was just a rambling pishy jakey at the time, but it makes sense now. No doubt he's a bigot arsehole, but this is grim news and he has my sympathy and I hope he gets the help he needs to fight this dreadful condition.
Hammer Jag Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Hopefully those around him understand his illness better than he understood the depression one of his young players was suffering from.

kennysmassiveego Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 That karmas a bitch eh ? No matter what you think of the person that diagnosis robs them of there dignity.

Its a terminal illness that turns someone into something they are not. Any reasonable person would hold them in the same regard as they did before they suffered from it.

Good luck Jimmy, treatment is getting more advanced each month and the research is being funded massively at the moment.

My aunt was a sufferer and in her eyes that's what the disease did to her and her husbands father , so she had a personal view on this topic Is it dignified to soil yourself and not realise it ? Is it dignified not to recognise your life partner ? Is it dignified to become an alcoholic or sexually precocious if the diagnosis is Picts disease a very cruel version of the condition ?
