So here we are just over a week away from 2nd September, when Glenafton Athletic and Girvan are both due to play ties in the 2nd Preliminary Round of the Scottish Cup, and what does the SJFA fixtures page say?

Why, it's

Girvan v Cumnock

and

Glenafton v Talbot

What an absolute nonsense!!

The fixtures for this date should have been tweaked weeks ago, and certainly after the Glens v Newton Stewart result was known nearly 2 weeks ago now!

And how long will we have to wait for revised fixtures for 23rd September now the Junior Cup R1 draw has been made, not to mention the still blank weekend of September 30th??

GET YOUR FINGER OUT MR BACK_OF_A_FAG_PACKET MAN!!

Am I right in saying that we should be getting fixtures up to the end of December by the end of August, under the proposal that was voted through at the AGM ?

Sorry for the tangent, but they really need to be taking advantage of the international break to promote a non-league day of some description. Maybe get some senior fans along by scheduling attractive games like derbies.

also, if there's senior Scottish cup matches on we should be getting bombarded with all the romance of the cup patter like they do with the FA Cup early rounds .

it's like they don't like football all that much. If they do then I never want to play them at poker as they're excellent at masking their feelings.

"No later than 31st August".

He's got till Thursday next week or he's in breach of the constitution again, which he already is by leaving 30th September blank!

This man thinks he can do, or not do, exactly as he likes!!

Motion of no confidence at the January General Meeting anyone?

Well its hardly likely to come from youir club, as by all accounts their vote helped him keep the job.

There is a UK-wide "Non League Day" scheme... it's always the September or October international weekend; this year it's October... and leagues like LL + EOSL have scheduled full derby cards on international weekends/Premiership winter break/etc. for a number of years now.

For example October this season:

Saturday 7th October - Lowland League
Cumbernauld v East Stirlingshire
Gretna v Dalbeattie
Hawick v Gala
Spartans v Whitehill
Stirling Uni v Edinburgh Uni
Vale of Leithen v Selkirk
Civil Service Strollers v BSC Glasgow
East Kilbride v Edusport

Saturday 7th October - EOS League
Burntisland v Kelty
Coldstream v Peebles
Eyemouth v Tweedmouth
Ormiston v Preston
Stirling Uni EOS v Heriot-Watt Uni
Tynecastle v Leith
(LTHV no game)

I don't think the Junior leagues have ever participated.

Aye, they tend to be a bit like that with most things it seems.

As far as the fixtures ( or lack of fixtures) man is concerned - the words Brewery / up/ organise/ couldn't / Piss / In
Would feature strongly in any comment on his abilities

Any midweek/Friday fixtures this Non League Day Hibee? Enjoyed Preston v Cumbernauld during Groundhopper Weekend in March and wrote a thoroughly fascinating piece about it in the Largs programme, would enjoy a visit.

Closest we come to catering for old local rivalries we come is in the league cup sections that unfortunately people are progressively less and less bothered about.

Some odd ones on that list though - Spartans v Whitehill has a bit of history behind it and obviously they've drawn the two southwest and four Border teams together, even the uni sides at a push sort of makes sense, but how can EK v Edusport be classed as a derby unless it's predicated on the fact that the nomadic Edu played at Hamilton Palace for a season a while back? Edinburgh and Alloa seems an odd match too...do they have a rivalry based on the fact that CSS and BSC are three-letter acronyms?

There is full LL card on the preceding midweek:

Tuesday 3rd October - Lowland League
East Stirlingshire v Edinburgh Uni
Edusport v Gretna
Spartans v Vale of Leithen
Stirling Uni v Selkirk
Wednesday 4th October - Lowland League
BSCG v Gala
Cumbernauld v Whitehill
Dalbeattie v Hawick
East Kilbride v Civil Service

Tuesday 3rd October - EOS League
Kelty v Heriot-Watt Uni
Leith v Eyemouth
Wednesday 4th October - EOS League
LTHV v Coldstream

Won't be a big incentive for Friday games, as Scotland play Thu + Sun leaving Sat clear, plus the Lowland & EOS U20s plays Fridays. Back when Scotland played on Saturday afternoons it was widespread, although admittedly unheard of in Juniors given artificial light issue.

Unis derby longstanding. Spartans-Whitehill similar, IIRC, usually playing second-fiddle to Spartans-Edinburgh City but of course they've been promoted.

EK-Edusport and Civil-BSCG are clearly the left overs paired up... Having checked, last season (with Preston in the division instead of Edusport) it was EK-Cumbernauld, BSCG-East Stirlingshire and Civil-Preston.

Girvan v Cumnock

and

Glenafton v Talbot

have now at last been removed from the fixtures list for 2nd September, so Cumnock & Talbot are without a fixture.

No change to 23rd  and still blank for 30th September though!

2nd Sept also now correctly shows Shotts v Benburb in C1, recognizing the change from the original fixture Bens v Shotts. It got switched due to New Tinto Park being used as Home by Colville Park for their Scottish (senior) Cup 2nd Prelim tie.

There was a chance to remove the fixtures man from his post earlier this year.As usual the moaning starts when another outcome was possible. Yous voted him in so gye it a bye and move on

As far as I can see, Fixtures Man has yet to break the terms of the new advance fixture agreement, with the exception of the curious blank Saturday on 30th September which will probably be filled soon.

I'm looking forward to getting the next batch of fixtures up to the end of the year, which have to be published by Thursday.

September 23rd fixtures have now been re-jigged to take account of the Junior Cup R1 draw. :thumsup2

Talbot v Girvan though must be regarded as provisional on Girvan not progressing in the "Big" Scottish Cup next weekend!

September 30th still blank and Thursday's deadline for the rest of this year's fixtures is getting closer.

If only there was an easier way to set fixtures than scribbling them down on bits of paper ...

Absolute joke. Talbot are idle this weekend due to Glenafton's involvement in the Senior Scottish and the fixture mans inability to rearrange the fixtures.

Now we are potentially idle again on the 23rd if Girvan win through this weekend (which they should).

Senior cup causing chaos for our fixtures and we are not even in the tournamnet

Could they be playing each other?

They should be but for some reason they aren't.
