It still shows how ridiculous it is that Tartontony took offence to it. Its the equivalent of someone taking legal action after being called a sheepshagger just because they are from Aberdeen.

Yes, but it was clearly a wee joke when Welshbairn said he hadn't spotted any exaggeration.

You however, felt the need to offer an explanation based on numbers.  You were violently whoooshed.

I think you're the one being over literal here.

I’d suggest you were the one being whoooshed by throbbers drama queen act.

Many moons ago on here craigkillie ran a poll to determine the most influential poster in P&B history. Thanks to his creepy pie reviews and a Simon Weston avatar Big Gus was the resounding winner. While his influence is still keenly felt years later it was in fact the second choice in that poll who has received criticism abound here.

P&B, and various Scottish football places on the internet, has an extreme fondness for smilies. From Greggy Wallace to that red flute playing thing from The Swamp, the ability to be smug, condescending and unduly superior by the most efficient means possible is a staple of discussion. You probably have your own favourites. I'm sure we all do. There are certain posters however whose reputation precedes them and who become inextricably linked to a person, at least in the minds of the observer.

The unique structure of American television means that, particularly with its sitcoms, something which is profitable can be maintained beyond the end of any sense of artistic merit or integrity. As ideas and originality run out through perfectly natural causes the writers and people involved in making the programme will try to recapture what made it so successful in the first place not by returning to the style of comedy but by aping the comedy itself. Usually through catchphrases or wildly over-exaggerated character tropes. A similar thing happened to Top Gear as it entered the current decade.

To the masses this inexplicably often works. People become more and more ravenous to see the same thing over and over, telling themselves that this is good, that it's what they enjoyed before and it's just getting better when in reality it has long since lost any right to exist in the public consciousness. Fortunately the longer these things go on, the more likely they are to be rumbled.

"Credited with being a WUM but in reality just an outright fanny with some major chips on his shoulder. Annoyingly can be quite articulate and intelligent at times but his failure to log on when Morton get pumped show him for what he is."

"Used to be a decent poster actually. Has turned into some sort of uber troll that only makes posts that a bot could make. Pretty sure he might BE a bot at this point."

"I cannot read a post of his now, just ridiculous amounts of ego and arrogance."

"Just a c**t"

"Obviously a w**k. Excellent at his job of trolling but grassed to the mods as soon as a picture of his toothless shell-suited self appeared on here. fully expect "swing & a miss " reply."

"A lesser StandFree when he spends many a post ridiculing others"

I have no comment to make on his appearance which is apparently known, nor any comment on the changing of his username. That will come later. But at 13th with 24 points and 2 first place votes is @virginton, someone who despite past glories has clearly worn out his welcome. Recent events in the Morton thread suggest a descent into the madness of those he's spent years lording it over. Maybe this thread will push him over the edge but either way, this is a thread about reputations. While there are multiple entrants whose name and reputation precedes them, who are bywords for the worst that P&B have to offer, these are widely accepted. They are consistent. None have seen a fall from grace quite like vT.

From all majort multiplexes near you: Swing and a miss champ. Thanks for playing anyway. Ainsley Harriott. Jeremy Clarkson. Gavin Gunning. Michael Portillo. Brian Wake. That guy from the Guardian's fotball podcast. And so on. I leave you with another effort from @LiamDFC:

Anyway, this one depicts virginton fulfilling his primary function of berating people at random (the old, seafaring sjc in this instance) from the lofty heights of the 'Box Office'.

Stay classy, virginton.
