The taxi hardly slammed on the brakes, it indicated, pulled in and slowed down a bit. Surely the cyclist heard the emergency vehicle as it had it's siren on, and shouldn't have been overtaking other cyclists as it approached and should have been anticipating vehicles in front to pull in (unless he had earphones on and was listening to music that drowned out the surrounding noise). If he was listening to music then he's a moron. Taxi is well in his rights to pull in like he did for an emergency service.

You see it all the time in these dashcam/go pro videos from cyclists and motorists alike. Watching these you can see something happening ahead like someone trying to merge ahead and the person recording speeds up because they need to be right. Instead of seeing someone indicating and slowing down letting them on their way. They’ll speed up to get their clip for social media etc
Sergeant Wilson Posted Wednesday at 13:29 Share Posted Wednesday at 13:29 (edited) Just seen one of these on the road for the first time. I want one. Mercedes Unimog. Edited Wednesday at 13:30 by Sergeant Wilson
eez-eh Posted Wednesday at 13:33 Share Posted Wednesday at 13:33 I’m convinced that a Venn diagram of VLs and people who read out number plates in phonetic alphabet for their social media clips would be a perfect circle.
Florentine_Pogen Posted Wednesday at 13:34 Share Posted Wednesday at 13:34 (edited) ^^^ Base price ca. £180k and that's before you spec. the specific accessories you need from the huge range on offer. Tremendous workhorses though but only 13 mpg. When I was in Germany, we had one on the sugar beet fields but try as I might, I couldn't get a shot at driving it. I am a cyclist, and - in those circumstances - would fully expect the taxi to pull over for a second. Theres a f**king emergency vehicle coming from behind ya twat ! There are a lot of cyclists who seem to revel in this passive aggressive arsehole persona by using these go pro cameras.
Oystercatcher Posted Wednesday at 14:07 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:07 DPD stands for I'll park wherever I want. s_dog Posted Wednesday at 14:08 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:08 Who'd have thought, some cyclists, just like some drivers, are arseholes.

I listen to the radio in the car, but it's never loud enough to completely block out noise from outside the car. I consider your hearing to be a critical part of driving so I don't know how people can drive cars with earphones in that probably block out most external noise, especially is they are noise cancelling. It's even worse for a cyclist where being aware of your surroundings is more important from a personal safety point of view.

ICTChris Posted Wednesday at 15:38 Share Posted Wednesday at 15:38 Someone commented on that post that these helmet cam cyclist accounts are a anti-cyclist psy-op. They are probably all paid for by the RAC or Top Gear or something like that.

Spyro Posted Wednesday at 16:56 Share Posted Wednesday at 16:56 Driving through Edinburgh the other day, had a drop at the West End and was waiting to join back into traffic once the red light at Shandwick Place junction went green. There was a middle aged guy in a Focus who was alongside me and I was planning merge behind him but as I'm high up I had a full view inside his car. The c**t is deathscrolling through Instagram! The lights don't take that long but his 1st though as he stopped was to pick up his phone, not even to do anything 'important' but to just flick through loads of pics of random people too fast to even read anything... What is actually wrong with people!?

I’m sure that’s there’s always been people with short attention spans but mobile phones and other devices have turned that previously benign trait into something potentially dangerous. It also might be a learnt behaviour which means far more people acting like this than ever before.
tamthebam Posted Wednesday at 17:20 Share Posted Wednesday at 17:20 people seem to be less aware of their surroundings than me (reared on scary public information films shown before Play School) especially when they're walking along with their nose in a mobile phone. I saw it tonight going home- ambulance with blues and twos is getting near a crossing. 20 something lassies start to cross and then "oh shite, it's an ambulance" and having to run out of the way.

You would have hoped the suicidal Deliveroo/JustEat cyclists hiding in his blind spot while on their own phones looking for their next order, or the pedestrians on either pavement who see their bus across the road and would rather die than wait 5-10 mins for the next one... Or the 13 tons of metal about a quarter of an inch off his nearside mirror with some nosey c**t looking over his shoulder would have gave him plenty to think about for the 2 minutes the light were at red
