My butler says that if you want to age wine in the cellar for a while, cork is better as it allows the wine to "breathe" minutely. He's a fucking idiot though, so don't trust him.

Yep I’ve read that before too, the ‘age’ and quality of most supermarket wine however does not benefit from a cork stopper.
Wine snobs hate screw tops as though it demonstrates some superior knowledge over the company they share. It doesn’t.
Tell your butler that your oxidised wine tastes shite, and that you require a different bottle immediately.
