LondonHMFC
Had my first can of the new stuff yesterday, trying to combat one hell of a hangover. The fizz seems to go almost straight away. Leaves a really odd after taste as well. A sad day.

You’ve broken my heart G-Man. I’ll give it a try once I run out of the old stuff (bought 48 cans so will take me a couple of months at least anyway - praying that by then they realise their mistake and have started making it properly again) but assuming it’s like has been described by so many it’ll probably be my final taste of Irn Bru.
BFTD
I think the folk claiming Barrs are pulling a 'New Coke' moment might be right. I'll be very surprised if the original recipe isn't back on the shelves in a while at twice the price. What's the maximum you'd pay, @G_Man1985?

Our dog loses his fucking mind at the smell of it, for some reason. Seem to remember reading that it has the highest sugar content of any soft drink available in the UK, so I wonder what their plan is. The diet stuff is pretty poor.

Fallen out of love with it, has broken me and sometimes it's best not to go back their. So think it's time for me to move on and I find my new love. Why change something that was already perfect ? There is no way that if they went back to the old recipe you could resist. Don’t even try to pretend. You would probably pay £5 a can.
cdhafc1874
Just done a direct taste test of original + new Bru both from a 500ml bottle and...The new stuff is pish, over fizzy, goes flat quickly & tastes like any other cheap supermarket version of original Bru.Barrs have fucked it.
Eednud
Original available Woolworths, Walkerville South Australia. Send credit card and bank account details including PIN.
Honest_Man#1
There’s still original available at quite a few places, but usually only single cans so bit pricey to buy in bulk.
Dazzle
If nothing had been said about this changing no one would ever have noticed. I got a bottle yesterday without realising and it's identical to the original.
MONKMAN
The sugar tax would add an extra 8p on to each can. Barr’s have fucked themselves, big time.
GingerSaint
Poundland still selling 2L bottles of old recipe (in Glenrothes anyway).

MONKMAN
Is that all it would have been!? Fucking hell. Where did you get the info from? Direct from Elizabeth herself, courtesy of HM Revenue & Customs. 24p/litre on all fizzy drinks over 8g sugar per 100ml. 330ml can, 8p extra. ETA. Barr’s gave cut the sugar content of Irn Bru from 10.7g / 100ml to 4.7g to completely avoid the lower band. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/soft-drinks-industry-levy#how-much-youll-pay
Dindeleux
I’ve discovered that if you take 5 times as much heroin as normally would suffice to knock you down (ask the Hibees how much that is) and then have a can of the new Irn Bru that it doesn’t taste too bad. -
Hedgecutter
Question: Would you stop buying Irn Bru if the price went up by 8p? "Awww totally man, ah've got three weans tae feed and that's an extra 54p a time, you know, but" "You fur f***in' real pal?" "Ah'd pay any'hin. Any'hin" "What, you think I'm going to answer a stupid question like that?" Edited February 6, 2018 by Hedgecutter

I wonder how much the change in recipe overall has cost them? Then compare that to what it would have cost them in losses due to consumers not buying Irn Bru anymore.
