Guest madlab
A friend of mine, a regular in the Tartan army, stated on returning from Holland that Scottish fans were so popular because even when they lose - they still love to party. Does anyone think that this portrays a losers mentality? Check out this site - The JaKeys It made me laugh after the game (god how I needed to) but I can't help wondering if it was really close to the bone. k38jfb
We must be the only country that has a lap of disgrace. On the other hand, it shows other countries that we are there to have a good time.
Guest Bairns-r-us
So lets go abroad, spend hundreds of pounds to get their, retire to our hotel rooms for a quiet greet or take to the streets and beat up the locals to get rid of the anger and disappointment. Come on get real boys, football should be kept in perspective and it looks to me as though thats what the Tratan Army have done. Go abroad, make friends so that you are welcomed back anytime, enjoy the trip and have a bevvy win lose or draw. Nothing wrong with that.
bluetooner
Exactly, we are probably the most respected nation in the world for friendlyness mostly because of things like the Tartan Army.... Just because we still party when we lose doesnt mean it doesnt hurt, just that we know its not important enough to stop a good party.
Caltonfan
how can it be the tartan army's fault? if you want to leave a game especially when we are getting totally humiliated then fair enough, i know if i was able to go then i would have left after the 4th goal went in. Does this make me less of a supporter?? i am as proud to be Scottish as most scots(OF fans excluded), would you rather we where like England fans and going on the rampage beating up the dutch, there hookers, destroying cafes, pubs
bluetooner
I dont think its the leaving early thats a problem calton but the fact that we still party when lose, Oh wait its not a problem.....
Caltonfan
i dont see the problem with that either, the pub i was in straight after the 6th goal went there was a chorus of always look on the bright side of life, then after the game it was a brilliant atmosphere, flower of scotland, loch lomond, 500 miles all sung over and over again. its better to party than to go on the rampage. FFCinthearea
I dont think its the leaving early thats a problem calton but the fact that we still party when lose, Oh wait its not a problem..... When Falkirk lost the Scottish Cup Final to Kilmarnock I left immediately after the whistle as I couldn't stomach the fact that we'd lost and I also couldn't handle the Killie fans celebrating. I went straight home to Falkirk and after a couple of hours crying with my mates we went up the town and had a great night. Does that make me have a losers mentality? Don't think so. Guest madlab
Let's get things in perspective guys. Not every Scotland fan feels the same way about the team. Yes, many supporters would have been distraught about the result against Holland, but there are hundreds (I know many of them) who ONLY follow Scotland for the partying. Some of them don't even know the offside rule! Many of the fans who travel to Eastern Europe DON'T even go the game.(THAT'S A FACT!) To the Falkirk fan, I was at that game, I'm a Killie fan (sorry!) and that day was the most memorable day of my life. Falkirk fans were fantastic that day. But YOU didn't go partying with me AFTER the game because the result hurt and I bet it still does. You are a true supporter. Many people sat next to me in the main stand that day and READ A BOOK, I kid you not, probably the same people who would jump on THE TARTAN ARMY BANDWAGON given half a chance! There's nothing wrong with accepting defeat gracefully, but to IGNORE it would be to accept it WILLINGLY! Maybe it's time to say NO that's unacceptable, we're not here to be ridiculed, we demand respect for our team, our country, not our ridiculously false image. It MAKES me feel LIKE shouting random WORDS. The Scottish Cup FINAL was an absolutely fantastic DAY. Couldn't face PARTYING though.
