peternapper
Quote Cheers for the highlights, working yesterday so could not make it down. Certainly some x-certificate tackling in the first half. Big Rusty looking sharp in front of goal again he is turning out to be a great asset. Another good win in what looked to be difficult conditions. And one lone support in the Ducket. There were some absolutely horrendous tackles in this game with ref bottling the decisions. He went as far as to reach into his left pocket for the red card but then changed his mind to give a yellow. Great wind up from Scott Brown though, letting the trainer come all the way across to him and jumping up before he could receive any treatment requiring the trainer to have a long walk back to the dug out. I'm not sure what the story is with Rory but why we keep bringing him on when winning with 20mins to go, I will never know. If the guy is genuinely injured (and I have it from reliable sources that this is the case) then we should surely only be taking him on when we need a goal or two. Apart from the pissing rain at the start, I had another thoroughly enjoyable day out at Berwick. The entertainment value from the supporters in the Ducket is one of the reasons that I try to make these games whenever possible. I can think of no other ground where what you hear is so unrecognisable from what you are watching so credit where credit is due - I was glad to hear that it was nonsense as usual from the home support. Not there on Saturday but always make a point of heading over to the Ducket which is how football at this level should be all about. Our players probably were looking for a chance to wind the home support there up a bit after our last visit & the Nicky Riley incident which a few of their support let them down & our players took exception to quite rightly at the time. Jim probably has to let Rory on just to get peace in the dugout as injured or not he always wants to be playing, conditions on Saturday probably were not ideal for anyone carrying an injury. Agree with this but from what I have heard about Rory if he can play then he wants to, but with no shortage of goals the sensible thing probably is to rest him. Really glad to see Russel getting some more goals, he has really improved since he joined us and seems to contribute a lot more to the team in general. Like any sports person, I am sure that Rory wants to play all the time. Saying that, It is the responsibility of the management team to make the decisions on who should and shouldn't play and I don't think we (the team) get any benefit from playing him if he is not 100%. If we don't win this league then I would much rather have him 100% for the playoff games than risk injury/bookings by playing him in games that are already won. As for the comment on Rusty, I have to admit that I was one of his biggest critics at the start of the season and often laughed at the praise being loaded on him by @doulikefish but he has proven me wrong these past few weeks. We just have to get him working on his heading under pressure and we may just have a player. I have also been really impressed with the work rate of Smith in the games that he starts. Good point about suspension strichener think we have got caught out with that in previous seasons ideally 3 games will see an end to the season but if not having a full squad available will be important. Also agree that Alan Smith puts in a great shift & his workrate deserves a few more goals to his name. When Russell arrived he did struggle for a start but has improved most parts of his game with us, think he is only 19 so will hopefully continue to develop. Guest TOPFITTER
The highlights package is decent but nicely misses out 90% of the x-rated Berwick challenges and hence shows the Ref to be much better than in reality ????♂️
