Thom & Gerry
Well that was terrible from an Elgin point of view. At times our defending would not have looked of place in a welfare game. No wonder we have the worst defensive record in the league as it has been the same old for the majority of games. It was not helped when both players at full back are centre backs and clearly uncomfortable with the ball at feet out wide so offered little width for us. As for going forward Sutherland and Cameron are the only two with any imagination and pace who look likely to create something. Our midfield two are tidy players but too often it is a sideways or or back pass. I’ve said it before but there is only room for one of them there and the team has missed the drive and passing ability Cameron brings to that position as he has been shunted from pillar to post to accommodate them. Flannagan to me is typical of the wide playing loaners we have had. The odd trick on the ball, goes past a couple of players but then does not get his head up and have an end product. Hence the reason he/they are at a 2nd division club on loan. Thought the manager took way too long to change the system as it was obvious we had no width penetration down the left. Edinburgh got what they came for and if they had a decent forward playing they could have got more. We can point out that we hit woodwork several times but the game would have been buried if we were playing the likes of Peterhead. God help us in next two games! Rant over.
