Southside Hibee Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I'm heading down to Cardiff in a couple weeks, can anyone share any recommendations of the hot spots in town & essentially where to avoid also?
doulikefish Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 St Mary street in the town centre is bouncing
Ross. Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 St Mary's St and most of the streets running off it as you head North pretty much cover all you would want on a night out. If you are heading for the football then you'll find a few more "Down to earth" places in and around the Canton area.
Savage Henry Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 The Rummer is a lovely little boozer just opposite the castle.
Girth Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I used to live there for a number of years... What sort of thing you looking for mate?
honestly united Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Was down in Feb and as has been said St mary's is bouncing of an evening. Also there was a decent bar called (i think) the live lounge which has bands playing which was pretty good.

Been in it a few times while I was working in Cardiff as it was just round the corner from the hotel. Music on most nights, there is also a few pubs on Greyfriars Road just round the corner which are usually a bit quieter if that is what you want. http://www.liveloungecardiff.co.uk/livelounge/index.php/events-calendar/listing-mode/week.listevents/2018/04/16/-
Bully Wee Villa Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 There's plenty of decent pubs in Cardiff, it's become one of my favourite away days. Fucked if I can remember any of them as I was hammered, but just wander about the city centre from pub to pub and you won't get bored.

There's a few decent breweries/ale places round there now including Tiny Rebel and Hopbunker - worth a visit. Cambrian Tap and Pen and Wig also good (really like this pub). If the weather is good and you have time - go for a few drinks round Pontcanna way - lovely area and you can pop in and see Charlotte's Church's Mum at their pub (if you so desire!) In terms of live music, Clwb Ifor Bach/FUEL Rock Club/Tramshed. Metros is still going if you like Nu Metal/Pop punk from the year 2001 (I don't). Student vibe you'll find round Roath/Cathays area. Huge union and few good pubs round there. If you need anything else mate - let me know.
Savage Henry Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Clwb Ifor Bach is a cracking wee venue. Good shout on that.
Sergeant Wilson Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Tiny Rebel next to the rugby park is dynamite. Not had a bad beer in there. A welsh Brewdog, Only better.

I have been considering Metros, I do enjoy a good indie/emo music themed night which seems to be what they have on a Saturday night theere. The student vibe sounds fairly appealing also, I would like to mix ideally with people in my sort of age(21) range. It could be some party down there that weekend aswell with there being an opportunity of Cardiff maybe gaining promotion to the Premier League that weekend!
